The Role:
Role Synopsis
Reporting to a Project Services Team Leader the Planning Engineer provides detailed day-to-day planning control and support for Projects & Modification group within GOM Projects & Engineering. Role based in the engineering contractor's office.
The incumbent will have responsibility to provide assurance of engineering contractors planning control systems; establishing the accuracy of contractor schedules and validating progress measurement and reporting of all projects within the Projects & Modification group; another key role of the incumbent is to be the primary facilitator for planning workshops for development of project schedules.
To be successful the Planning Engineer will need to establish a close working relationship with peers in the Contractor’s organisation and the responsible package engineers / project manager.

Responsibilities

PLANS AND PROCEDURES:
Ensure compliance to the Planning & Scheduling processes, procedures and systems of Company and Contractor; Monitor compliance against WBS and take corrective action / make intervention as necessary; Provide input into the Annual Budget, and GFO processes; Support governance cycle as required per project.

SCHEDULE DEVELOPMENT:
Facilitate integrated planning sessions with individual project teams for the various projects initiated within P&M group; Assist in the development of the basis, assumptions and processes/norms used by contractors to ensure development of a sound Schedule and bring deficiencies to the attention of the group and work with company and contractor team to resolve these issues.

SCHEDULE ANALYSIS:
Perform verification of base plan, logic and alignment with approved execution plans; Health/Quality/Integrity checks of schedules, including verification of logic, changes to activities, float drawdown of updated P6 file; Working with delivery area managers and engineering to ensure long lead items are identified and procured; Validate the administration and reporting of schedule contingency including the analysis, drawdown and forecasting of delegated contingency.

PROGRESS MEASUREMENT:
Assure implementation of engineering contractor’s established progress measurement processes and procedures; Validation of engineering and procurement earned progress; Understand cost and schedule variances to baseline schedule; Work closely with the P&M Cost Engineer to ensure costs phasing and forecasting aligns with the current control schedule

REPORTING:
Validation of all schedule contributions to weekly and monthly reports including Baseline schedule / forecasts, Milestone charts, Progress and productivity curves; Review and analysis of proposed discipline engineering histograms to go and look ahead schedules based on current identified work; Support the validation of KPI reporting.

MANAGEMENT OF CHANGE AND RISKS:
Assure the maintenance and reporting on Cost and Schedule Contingency; Review schedule impacts and contingency/mitigation plans with change and risk owners; Support the process for potential schedule deviations or opportunities for schedule improvements; Assist with preparation of Schedule Risk Analysis.

CLOSE OUT:
Support project close out activities; Provide data to populate benchmarking database and data book for cost and schedule performance
