The Company:
My Client is a major Oil & Gas Operator.

The Role:
The Planning Engineer will initially be located in the EPC Contractors home office and transfer to the field site offices in Algeria on a rotational basis once construction is underway.
The EPC Contractors home office location will be an overseas posting for a minimum of 1 -2 months


The primary function of the Planning Engineer is to proactively provide Project Management and other stakeholders with accurate, timely and rigorous schedule forecasts and progress reports for the overall project.

The Planning Engineer will provide weekly and monthly schedule projections based on inputs from both the EPC contractors required inputs and companies own assessments.

The Planning Engineer will attend weekly and monthly meetings with the Team Leads to discuss and review the “estimated progress reported” based on the percentages of work done. This will allow for accurate schedule analysis and reporting.

Responsibilities and Duties:

To communicate project data and status to all interested stakeholders in a timely and consistent manner from a single source.

To develop an overall integrated cost and schedule plan encompassing all project participants including Contractors, major Equipment Suppliers and stakeholders.

This will be achieved by defining clear WBS and reporting requirements and by having a common approach to project controls across the project, eliminating duplications of efforts.

To promote proactive cost & schedule control through strict adherence to IACP project processes and procedures and best practice / lessons learnt from other projects and peer groups.

Project Execution.

Report to Project Services Manager

Planning & Scheduling of all project scope

Responsible for day-to-day planning activities and the integration of Contractor schedules into the overall Project schedule

Develop the Project Services Controls Strategy, plans and procedures for planning and scheduling, reflecting both BP and contractor roles and responsibilities ensuring adherence to the segment financial, business and project processes

Co-ordinate preparation of Project Execution Plan

Undertake further hands on definition of project schedule prior to award of FEED contract

Manage development of schedule during FEED and EPC

Project interface management including development of interface schedules

Undertake schedule risk analysis as required

Ensure schedule risk process is coordinated with the cost risk process and change management process

Oversee project reporting

Develop and issue stake holder reports and analysis

Measure and manage project ongoing performance against KPI

Hands on experience is essential


Comply with JV HSSE rules and lead by example.

Posses a strong commitment to HSSE values.

Promote a high standard of HSSE behaviour with in the JV team and EPC Contractor organisation.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

University Degree in Engineering related discipline or equivalent

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:

Minimum 10 years previous Planning Engineering experience within Oil and Gas sector.

Minimum 5 – 10 years experience using Primavera.

Knowledge of Project Controls & Project Management Functions

Strong Interpersonal and Customer facing skills

Good Skills of MS Office tools.

Open-minded and good team-player.
