The Company:
Our client is a large multi-national organization which explores, develops, produces and markets crude oil, gas and sulfur. They pride themselves in conducting operations in accordance with the world–class safety and environmental standards.

The Role:
The Planning Specialist / Engineer will report directly to the Reservoir Management Group’s Resource Growth Manager and will be either rotational or 5/2 in Atyrau for the initial phases of the project. If based in Atyrau, there will be periodic visits to Oil Field and to external contractors. It is envisaged that the position will move to Oil Field for the latter phases of the project.

The essential functions of the position are as follows;
•To produce individual schedules for the various groups within the Drilling, Exploration and Reservoir Management Department (DERM);
•To prepare and manage the department’s integrated overall schedule;
•To co-ordinate and incorporate the schedules from external contractors into the integrated overall schedule;
•To provide project reports for management and partners;
•Be prepared to work in a camp environment on a permanent rotational basis if required
•Develop schedules for all projects within the department from basic information;
•Liaise with all team leaders in order to communicate the required completion dates and interfaces to all responsible parties;
•Monitor and forecast progress of activities in contractor’s work schedules;
•Perform probabilistic analysis of completion dates and advise potential alternatives;
•Develop planned versus actual progress curves and analysis of deviations from the plan;
•Evaluate the allocation of resources and provide recommendations in order to maintain the required progress;
•Work closely with the cost controls group for expenditure forecasting and progress;
•Participate in weekly progress meetings;
•Provide mentoring to any direct reports and the Soaring Eagle appraisal scheme;
•Provide feedback on contractors’ performance;
•Prepare and issue updated project schedules;

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•Must have a recognised academic engineering qualification;
•Must have 15 years experience of working on major oil and gas projects;
•Experience in the planning of upstream activities such as drilling, work-overs, non-rig activities, well site construction and flowline and hook-up activities would be advantageous;
•Must be fully conversant and experienced with the Primavera P6 planning package;
•Previous experience in Kazakhstan of the CIS would be advantageous.
