The Role:
The role requires a candidate who can be hands on in producing daily detailed scheduling deliverables and work as part of the team whilst also being able to oversee at a strategic level to maximise KPI’s. Candidate should be an enthusiastic heavyweight with real desire to expand their careers by working in a key role in one of the leading Integrated Oil and Gas Companies in the world. Candidate should be a strong and participating team member, but also capable of working individually to a high standard.

The Planning Engineer will be expected to Mentor at least one other employee who will be assigned to assist. Primary Office location is in Madrid, Spain, with frequent travel to Tarragona.

Health Safety and Environment (HSE)
Candidate must have an excellent knowledge of HSE rules, regulations and best industry practice for sub-sea facilities activities and be able to abide by Client HSE rules and procedures at all time.

Scope of Responsibility
The scope of responsibilities for this role are as follows:
Planning and Scheduling
 Prepare and maintain schedules and record actual dates using appropriate planning tools.
 Integrating various Contractor and Client schedules into a unified project schedule.
 Highlight potential problem areas and recovery solutions with regard to resource limitations, schedule bottlenecks, and project delays.
 Prepare progress bar charts and planned verses actual progress reports for internal and external use.
 Contractor schedule assessments including verification of project cost and schedule basis.
 Schedule risk assessment and critical path identification.
 Prepare weekly Project Schedule updates.
 Developing and enforcing organizational best practices and standards
 Ensuring the existence of proper systems and procedures, so that on a periodic basis: all interfaces are identified, agreed and reviewed; all short term critical tasks are reviewed.
 Assist in training of planning staff.
 Assist to establish and maintain work breakdown structure
 Ability to create/update Project Planning Procedures to reflect the latest engineering and Project Execution philosophies.
Management of Change
 Ownership of Project Change Management system run by the Quality Control Manager and responsible to assure process is adhered to by all project cost personnel.
 Prepare supporting information for variations to contract and manage information release record systems.
 Analyse and verify the cost and schedule impact of any variance/change orders
Bidding and Contract Support
 Assist in preparation of schedules for incorporation into tender documents.
 Participate in contract reviews to define scope of work with emphasis on project and production planning, record and manage change.
 Assist in defining Work Breakdown Structures

 Provide support for internal reviews and gates.
 Capturing scheduling and planning lessons learned and best practices
 Works collaboratively with the multi-functional teams (facilities, operations, drilling, program management and business) to prepare and plans.
 Provides support for preparation of Business Plans

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
 Previous experience the oil and gas industry with relevant Planning Engineering experience.
 Experience in scheduling Software’s and probabilistic analysis
 Familiar with the operating aspects of off-shore and on-shore operations and installations helpful
 Fluent in English
 Spanish required.

The successful candidate will be degree qualified or have equivalent working experience in this role in the offshore oil and gas industry. As well as the basic qualifications, the Planning Engineer should have capability in written and verbal presentation, computer literacy, administration and organisation.
