The Company:
Our client is a global leader in the design and delivery of infrastructure, power and major engineering projects around the world. Their clients come to them for a wide range of advice, resources and skills - in engineering, maintaining infrastructure, managing construction, planning and strategic thinking.

The Role:
We are currently recruiting for a Planning Engineer for our client's site based in Paddington, London, for work on a telecommunications programme.

Reporting to the Planning Manager / Project Controls Manager

1. Plan and prioritise the planning input to assigned projects, including where relevant the input of other planners, to ensure delivery is consistent and effective, meeting scope, time, cost and quality requirements.
2. Contribute to the planning strategy for assigned projects, so that the approach taken in each case is effective and appropriate to the project needs and client requirements
3. Set up the base line plan for assigned projects and monitor progress against this plan, so that any problems are recognised promptly
4. Report on progress and earned value, to support financial forecasting and any necessary corrective action
5. Proactively identify and highlight any progress issues which threaten successful delivery of the project, so that recovery action may be taken
6. Lead planning input to estimating and tendering activity on assigned projects, so that all relevant issues, actions and risks are understood and taken into account

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
1. Conversant with Primavera P6 planning software and tools
2. Basic project management skills
3. Capable of managing own work
4. Commercial awareness
5. Significant relevant experience, typically equivalent to 4 years, in project planning
6. Excellent communication skills
7. Ability to work in a team environment

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
8. Experience in contracting environment and contracting styles
9. Telecommunications design / site experience
10. Appreciation of Cost Engineering
