The Company:
Our Client is a major operating company, currently involved in some of the largest energy projects in the world.

The Role:
· As part of the clients Qatar Project Hub the Planning Engineer is responsible for providing effective (portfolio) planning support to the Project Managers / Portfolio Manager and detailed planning support to the individual project Engineers/Managers.
· He/She should perform relevant planning & progress activities in Primavera and other management systems for the project business. He/She will be responsible for the relevant monthly planning progress reporting of projects.
· To contribute to delivery and maintenance of standard, consistent and realistic project plans reflecting the assessed risk parameters for each project. The planner will work alongside 2 other planners in the Project Services Team.

Duties and Accountabilities:
· Deliver and maintain consistent and realistic plans and control structures for the projects in line with the clients PS04 Capital Project Scheduling. Understand the list of plans required to execute the assigned project sub-elements and their interface to other sub-elements. Develop the activities, logic, resources and progress for the assigned project sub-elements, leading to the creation of the baseline schedule and its subsequent maintenance.
· Comply with the planning and progress monitoring procedures.
· Conduct the schedule monthly progress update, forecast, critical path and trend analyses for assigned elements, including any impact from interface areas. Implement and maintain the status reports. Provide regular and comprehensive schedule status reports to project managers.
· Assess and incorporate the impact of approved changes and any deviations from the key project targets and milestones, including productivity monitoring and identification of alternate approaches to optimise the plan(s).
· Liaise with and challenge Project Engineering personnel to ensure proper understanding of the key schedule sensitivities and drivers
· Develop contract key dates, milestones and Project Hub plan dates that align with the overall project schedule.
· Participate in evaluating bid schedules and reviewing contractor plans to support contract award recommendations.
· Develop contract sections for planning and progress reporting. Review and verify contractors reported progress and ensure that this is reflected in the project schedule.
· Contribute to the translation of the project’s risk profile into the probabilistic risk model and understand the output, including the key risk drivers for the possible range of schedule completion dates. Track the criticality of the main paths to completion and float consumption.
· Utilise the clients standard tools and processes.
· Provide input data for and participate in benchmarking activities.
· Contribute to close-out data to enable knowledge retention (lessons learned, project data compilation) at completion of work

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
· Engineering Degree and/or Certification as a Planning Engineer or equivalent experience.
· Minimum experience of 5-years in planning of upstream and/or downstream major projects, preferably with Brown field exposure;
· Project execution practical experience;
· Self-motivation and interpersonal relationship skills.
· Track record of successfully contributing to project delivery of large-scale complex upstream or midstream Brownfield gas projects. Experience in the Middle East, knowledge of GTL and LNG are an advantage, as is front-end and commissioning experience as well as execution.
· Proven leadership skills and strong personal drive in order to meet deadlines and specific targets.
· Team player with clear evidence of working with others to deliver on goals.
· Strong, and demonstrated, personal commitment to HSSE Leadership and experience in managing HSSE throughout all project phases.
