The Role:
Purpose:
•To provide planning support to projects during the concept study, select, front end engineering and define phases of a Project.
•Deliver and maintain consistent and realistic schedules and control structures for their projects.
•Develop the work breakdown structure, activities, logic and resources for the assigned project sub-elements, leading to the creation of the baseline schedule and its subsequent reporting and maintenance.
•Principal Accountabilities HSE Support company and project HSE goals and all HSE related initiatives.
•Encourage personal safety and well being of co-workers by regularly addressing HSE behaviour.
•Planning Setting up, monitoring and reporting of the project schedule (early and late).
•Regular re-forecasting of remaining man hours. Resource profile planning, schedule management and input onto the Projects and Technology resource planning tool.
•Conduct regular schedule progress updates, forecasts, critical path and trend analyses, including any impact from interface areas.
•Implement and maintain project status reports.
•The development of subsea, topsides and/or onshore brownfield schedules at levels 0, 1, 2 and 3 using regional tools and benchmarking to previous projects.
•Reporting on a regular basis to the project manager and liaising where required with the other disciplines in the project team and in the company’s organisation.
•Utilising the cost control tool to download man hours for productivity reporting. Liaise with and challenge project engineering personnel to ensure proper understanding of the key schedule sensitivities and drivers. Review the schedule baseline on an ongoing basis.
•Participate in reviewing scope changes, extra work authorisations and change orders.
•Carry out schedule impact analysis as and when required.
•Updating the schedule at weekly, bi-weekly and monthly intervals during the project lifecycle and generating revised completion dates.
•Identify corrective action to retain the schedule as necessary.
•Carry out re-baseline work as required. Providing the project team with timely and adequate schedule information and assist the technical project team on matters relating to planning and scheduling issues.
•Attend and proactively participate in weekly project and departmental meetings.
•Coordinating schedule manpower planning activities and productivity for the project team.
•Provide input for the preparation and issuing of monthly progress and KPI reports.
•Liaise with estimating and cost control as and when required to build and report on project schedules.
•Staff direct accountability:
•Assist in the development of junior team members and graduates where necessary.
•Special Challenges: Develop good working relationships within the Projects and Technology function.
•The scope of front end planning activities and working practice means careful time management in order to manage projects simultaneously.
•Be able to work proactively, on their own and as part of the project team.
•The scope and diversity of Projects and Technology projects and their differing contracting strategies requires control of many interfaces to 3rd parties and internal Shell organisation departments to achieve effective delivery of front end plans.
•Input into Projects and Technology business improvement objectives and assist in the review and maintenance of the Projects and Technology standard planning toolset.
•Additional Comments Implement and comply with the planning and progress monitoring procedures.
•Implement and utilise the standard tools and processes.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Engineering degree and/or certification as a planning engineer or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 8 years industry experience in planning positions.
• Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills.
• Fully versed in planning principles and techniques and to be able to use Microsoft office products, in particular excel, and Oracle Primavera P6 Professional R8.2.
