The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, seeks expertise for mega-projects in Canada.

This opportunity is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only.

The Role:
Reporting to VP, Engineering, and the Planning Lead is responsible for stakeholder reviews and assessments that analyze contractor progress and performance during engineering, procurement and construction through to the commissioning phase of several projects.

Deliverables:
• Organizational growth within Major Projects requires that this position requires Technical Leadership that will be required for business travel to various contractor workplaces during project phases for extended periods.
• Domestic locations may include Toronto, Edmonton, Asia and the United States.
• Lead a team of Project Control professionals to oversee multi-disciplinary project controls group responsible for cost, scheduling, estimating, quantity surveying and reporting.
• Collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure necessary project controls support in achieving project objectives
• Identify project schedule and budget trends through a comprehensive project controls system
• Support the development and maintenance of cost reporting and forecasting systems to ensure project estimates and budgets remain current and change management supports project objectives
• Forecast completion costs based on trends including productivity measurements, labor rate analysis, commitments, change management, schedule impacts and material cost variance
• Update, maintain and analyze project commitments, cost flow, and expenditures while also supporting monitoring, reviewing and analysis of cost, schedule and associated reporting

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Post Secondary Engineering degree with current professional engineering status preferred, and/or Post Secondary Technical Certification
• 15 years experience working directly on Oil and Gas or Mining projects with equivalent to $CAD 500mill annual budget oversight.
• Demonstrated Leadership and Management capabilities to Oversee Staffing and multiple cost and schedule reporting processes that will ensure contractors are reporting all updated schedules and costs, including procurement tracking, earned value analysis, commodity tracking, contingency draw down, manpower, trends and forecasts
• Superior user of related computing products such as Microsoft Office and Primavera (P6).
