The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, requires expertise for their ongoing oil sands mega-projects in Alberta.
This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only, and it is a rotational role, to and from Fort McMurray, Alberta. (5 weeks on, 3 weeks off)
The Role:
As the Planning Lead, your main job function and responsibilities will include:
• Developing the Project and sub-project schedule and all aspects of progress measurement, schedule development and schedule control. The incumbent oversees both short and long range planning, including application of industry standards/criteria to all plans. Integrates mobilizing sub-contractor schedules into baseline schedules.
• Providing overall project schedule, progress measurement, and change management leadership and expertise
• Ensuring that appropriate Contractor project controls staffing levels and controls tools are employed by the EPC Contractor
• Stewardship of the EPC contractor's project control organization with respect to schedule development, control and progress measurement
• Advising the EPC contractor's organization with respect to project controls tools and reports
• Conducting briefing sessions for project team members with respect to project control requirements and processes
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• BS in Engineering
• 15-20 years’ experience in Scheduling/Planning
• Minimum 5 years Planning lead, including oil sand experience
Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Skill Area Proficiencies
• Capable of challenging construction schedule sequencing, rules of credit and resource loading
• Demonstrated advanced expert level skills in planning
• Demonstrated expert Level skills in the use of Primavera P6
• Demonstrated leadership, team building, and strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent planning and organizational skills, as well as oral and written communications skills
• Excellent business judgment and decision-making skills
• Motivation to learn and rigorously apply other company systems including OIMS, safety systems, CIMS, and other
