We are currently seeking an experienced Engineering Plastics & Polymer Intermediates Marketing Analyst to join the Chemicals Business Coordination & Support Department.

The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing pricing, demand-supply balances, and the underlying reasons for factors affecting demand and supply variables and prepare decision-support reports that help the pricing committee make informed decisions on prices. The position is also responsible for analyzing industry performance, competitive analysis, end-use sectoral analysis, analyzing grade portfolios and demand supply scenarios to proactively suggest opportunities and highlight threats to the business. The position will interact very closely with the sales and business analyst teams assisting the business to fulfill all internal and external reporting requirements, spearheading annual business plan preparations, periodically tracking plan versus actual performance, analyzing and scanning the market to identify actionable insights through analysis to improve business performance. You will report to the Marketing and Sales Director of Polymers and Intermediates. This position requires close internal coordination with Sales, Supply Chain Planning, Logistics and Customer Service Departments. External coordination with Customers, Distributers, Consultants, and relevant parties that have an impact on the business is vital to the success of this role.

Duties & Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will provide support for pricing decisions, and annual business plan preparation. Assist with demand/supply forecasting and market analysis based on end-application sectors for target geographies. You will analyze industry trends, and highlight them to support operational decisions. Provide plan versus actual performance analysis, and sales performance analysis, and insights to improve operational performance, and margins. Other aspects include supporting the business to marry industry knowledge with analysis of internal and external data to present actionable insights, opportunities and threats to the business.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
The successful candidate should have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline. An MBA would be a strong advantage.

Candidates will need to possess a minimum of 7 years’ experience in a marketing or business analyst role supporting a chemicals sales and marketing operations to provide analysis, and reporting support to improve business performance. Prior experience of the South East Asia market, and at least 4 years in the petrochemical industry in a similar role is essential.

Good command over MS Excel to analyze data effectively.
Good command over MS PowerPoint to present insights effectively.
The ability to conduct cost/benefit analysis and business case development.
