The Company:
Our client is a major international operator in the oil and gas sector.

The Role:
This 'super-giant' oil field represents on of the world's largest oil reserves, and the project's purpose is to more than double production. New production facilities are expected to begin production towards the end of the decade while existing facilities will continue operation throughout the phased implementation of the new facilities. This will be a unique challenge in integrating brownfield production to greenfield facilities.

Overall Job Description and Key Deliverables:

The Power Development Engineer will lead the review of activities for conceptual studies, FEED and detail design, interfacing with other disciplines (business development and operations), contractors, and government entities. Typical areas of work involve power plant configuration, fuel supply and tie-in to the existing or new transmission system, transmission and distribution system configuration, and EPC contracting.

Provide the following:
• Lead contractor studies in the development of deliverables according to CTRs
• Work closely with PSCM to prepare and implement contracting strategy for power and transmission systems, including pre-qualification of potential bidders
• Lead technical evaluation during bidding phase for the Full Field 1GW Power Plant contract.• Provide input to project teams regarding power safety matters, including previous lessons learned
• Review and approve contractor documents, drawings and specifications
• Report to IPMT on contractor performance
• Engage Business Development, Operations Teams, and Contractors in the scope definition, identification, and resolution of issues
• Lead or participate in safety reviews as required (HAZOP, HAZID, PHASSER, MAR) in accordance with BP’s Group Defined Practices

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Skills and Qualifications:
• Degree Qualified in relevant engineering discipline
• Further qualifications are desirable.
• Significant engineering design experience on major projects within the Power industry, specifically on large Power Plants (1GigaWatt+)
• An excellent track record of delivering project safety and risk scope in terms of priorities and schedule requirements
• A full range of effective communication skills, including
• Persuasive language skills
• Presentation methods to maintain effective relations within the project teams
• Effective and clear report writing
• Excellent time management skills.
• Able to operate in a multi-site and multi-cultural environment.

Other Key Requirements:
• Experience of working in a multi-cultural, multi-disciplined, multi-site environment
• Previous overseas experience is desirable.
• Position holder will be required to go on occasional business trips to Iraq (for a which a medical must be completed and passed)
