The Company:
Is a leading Automotive manufacturer with a reputation for outstanding quality the world over. With demand increasing and an upturn in production, there is a need to bring further skills into the business to deliver on current and future projects.

The Role:
This role is as an Electrical Systems Engineer within the Powertrain Electronics team.

Main Duties:

- Responsible for providing an electrical systems platform on which the systems calibration engineer can develop the application. The systems in question are engine control, including ECU, sensors and actuators
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of the engine electrical system components
- Investigating engine management related issues, both in the vehicle development cycle and also in the field
- Define system electrical architecture, functionality and connectivity
- Responsible for packaging of all components
- Define specific software or hardware functions. Develop and validate where appropriate
- Formulate and maintain robust components/ systems delivery plan
- Manage component and system suppliers in order to meet the cost, time and quality targets
- Conduct systems FMEA's
- Support simulator and pre- production vehicle builds and feedback learning into the design process
- Plan and execute all component releases for production
- Perform root cause investigation and analysis on vehicle issues
- Plan and execute component change, including feasibility, cost and timing evaluations
- Investigate in field issue, identification of root causes and introduction of remedial actions
- Expedite Engineering Sign off for all components

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Knowledge of vehicle communications networks and diagnostic protocols
- Knowledge and experience of latest vehicle electronic systems
- Conversant with electronic hardware and software design processes
- Demonstrated experience working for an automotive manufacturer or relevant supplier
- Relevant knowledge and experience of either engine management or automatic transmission control
- Appreciation of sensor and actuator technologies and the methods of interfacing such components
- Knowledge and appreciation of vehicle packaging issues
- A strong engineering grounding and an ability to understand and communicate electronic issues
- Excellent organisation and personal interface skills
- Dynamic and proactive self starter able to work with minimum supervision
- Able to work extra hours and to travel abroad as and when required

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
- To be a chartered engineer or working towards chartership
- Familiarity with methods for specification and modelling such as Matlab, Simulink, and Stateflow would be an advantage
- Use of diagnostic tools such as CANoe or INCA would be an advantage
- Ideally have experience of Hardware in the Loop (HIL) testing using dSpace environment
- German language skills would be advantageous
