Is a leading Automotive manufacturer with a reputation for outstanding quality the world over. With demand increasing and an upturn in production, there is a need to bring further skills into the business to deliver on current and future projects.

The Role:
Scope
Co-ordination of a team of engineers responsible for delivering part of the powertrain electronics content of a vehicle.

Key Responsibilities
Co-ordinate a team of engineers to successfully deliver assigned objectives.
Secure all necessary resources, define roles/objectives and allocate work across the team.
Escalate personnel management topic of the team members to Functional Manager in accordance with Company policies.
Manage and monitor all engineering activities within the team that are required to meet Project milestones within the agreed financial constraints.
Oversee that, for all systems/components developed within the defined area of responsibility, the design meets all requirements and is fit for purpose. Regularly review the design and development programmes within your area. Manage the Engineering Sign-off of all components and systems.
For new Projects, support the Functional Manager to capture technical and financial feasibility. Support Functional Manager to define budgets, define resources and appropriately allocate work.
To support an agreed project portfolio, put in place cross- functional (i.e Electrical and Powertrain) working groups (SETs) in all appropriate areas. Take ownership for their facilitation.
Attempt to resolve all engineering issues within the area of responsibility through local management, facilitation and negotiation. Take all necessary cross- functional actions to resolve. Escalate issues when appropriate direct to Functional Manager.
Act as a point of contact and primary expert, knowledge holder and spokesman for the engineering team. All inputs to the team to be managed in the most appropriate way in order to balance new customer requirements.
Develop and maintain a technical expertise within the agreed domain of responsibility such that technical guidance, coaching and direction can be given to the engineers within the team. Keep abreast of new developments and innovations within this area. Advise on technologies and strategies to be offered to the Functional Manager.
Report the status of engineering deliverable to the Electrical Module and the status of engineering issues to the Head of Department and Functional Manager.

Qualifications
Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering

Previous Experience:
Knowledge of vehicle communications networks and diagnostics protocols
Knowledge and experience of latest vehicle electronic systems
Conversant with electronic hardware and software design processes
Familiarity with methods for specification and modelling such as Matlab Simulink, Stateflow would be an advantage
Use of diagnostic tools such as CANoe and INCA would be an advantage
Demonstrable experience working for an automotive manufacturer or relevant supplier
Relevant knowledge and experience of either engine management or automatic transmission control.
Ideally aware of Hardware in the Loop (HiL) testing methods and technology
Appreciation of sensor and actuator technologies and the methods of interfacing such components
Knowledge and appreciation of vehicle packaging issues
Experienced in project management for electrical systems- preferably with Automotive Product Emergence Process knowledge
Experience of leading small teams to deliver engineering projects

Skills:
Strong engineering grounding and an ability to understand and communicate electronic eneginering issues
Excellent project management, organisation and personal interface skills
Ability to coach and co-ordinate the tasks/objectives of others work for him/her
Dynamic and proactive self-starter able to work with minimum supervision
German language skills would be advantageous
Good communication skills
Self-motivated
