The Company:
After continued growth & success in partnership with European based manufacturing plants our British Based Automotive OEM client, has a requirement for engineering professionals to be based onsite in Europe to be the liaison between both companies from a Quality engineering perspective.

The Role:
To support the Engine Assembly and Machining plant in producing engines to the correct quality level.

Role and Responsibilities:
• To be the direct contact between German based Manufacturing team (Cologne) and UK based Engineering and Quality Team.
• Experience in problem solving. Quick, effective problem containment is essential.
• Lead investigations into concerns of Base Engine components ensuring specifications and standards are met consistently.
• Lead the team to support British and German manufacturing by ensuring correct parts quality from suppliers and confirming that the parts meet the vehicle inspection standard on the finished vehicle.
• Lead and support investigations both within your team as well as other departments.
• React to Manufacturing concerns with Hot Test and Cold Test failures to ensure deviations are managed
• Manage the Running change introductions and Line trial management.
• Lead investigations on warranty and production engine pulls
• Manage any supplier change requests using the SREA process
• Support any supplier resource activity both onsite at the supplier as well as managing any engineering changes required
• Work with suppliers to ensure parts are to standard and any repeat problems are effectively counter measured and confirmed
• Support parts approval according to the Supplier Parts Approval Process (SPAP) requirements
• Attend plant facilities and quality review meetings as designated. Be the voice of the British Quality onsite in German plant operations meetings.
• Authorise the use of components and deviations away from specifications in conjunction with design engineering.
• Review in-plant concerns and Quality Alerts in respect of component parts and assists in defining and assigning the concerns to the correct engineering activity.

Qualifications & Experience
• Previous Role as a resident engineer, Product Development Engineer, Component Engineer, Project Engineer or Quality engineer in an Engine plant previously would be advantageous.
• Technical education to degree level or equivalent.
• English & German speaking a must.
• Proven experience of quality tools including Supplier Part Approval Process (SPAP or PPAP) and problem solving techniques 8D and PPS.
• Ability to self manage and work under pressure to deliver quality, production and engineering requirements
• Strong communication skills and a proven ability to develop good teamwork with cross functional peers
• Due to the nature of the role, flexibility on working hours required to ensure completion of activities and supplier site visits. This may include working for extended periods of time at supplier manufacturing sites.
• Positive and proactive approach, with ability to work well in a team to engage others in problem solving
