The Role:
Position Description:

Provide technical support and leadership in pressure equipment engineering and work effectively in a team environment with other PEI Engineers, PEI Corrosion & Materials Engineers, PEI Inspectors, and other plant support staff in Capital Projects, Process Engineering, Maintenance, Turnaround, and Operations. Provide pressure equipment integrity technical assurance for static equipment including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, relief devices, and piping systems. Assure that pressure equipment and piping is designed, fabricated, operated, inspected, maintained, and repaired in a manner that provides pressure integrity and cost effective reliability.

Work closely with PEI Inspectors, Corrosion and Materials Engineer, and PEI Manager to establish inspection strategies, identify corrosion threats, monitor equipment condition, analyze inspection data, and make recommendations to ensure safe and reliable operation of pressure equipment. Assure compliance with pressure equipment regulatory requirements and applicable industry and company codes, standards, and recommended practices.


Typical technical responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Advise/input/direction regarding pressure equipment design and repair

Equipment re-rating calculations

Minimum thickness calculations and fitness-for-service evaluation

Pipe stress analysis

Evaluation of Risk Based Inspection (RBI) assessments

Failure analysis/investigation

Risk assessment/extension analysis

Temporary repair/clamp design review and approval

Management of Change (MOC) evaluation and review

Support development of turnaround PEI work scope, inspection plans, and risk reviews

Development of capital project work scope for pressure equipment replacement or metallurgy upgrades

Review design drawings to ensure full compliance with applicable standards

Network with other PEI Engineers or professional organizations to learn from others, share location experiences and best practices.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Position Requirements:

Must have legal authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than your current employer

Bachelors degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical, Materials, Civil, or Metallurgical)

Minimum of 5+ years engineering experience in refinery or petrochemical industry

Current API 510 & API 570 certifications desirable

Computer proficiency with emphasis on use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and ability to learn computer programs unique to PEI such as IDMS and API RBI.l

You must currently hold or be able to qualify to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.

Minimal travel requirements. Some climbing of ladders/scaffolds and entering of confined spaces during outages to inspect and evaluate equipment degradation issues. Successful candidate will be expected to complete PEI training courses including API inspector certification training.
