The Company:
Our client is a major global Oil and Gas EPC management company that can cover small Brownfield projects to major Greenfield projects.
They are a growth company who can serve as a Sole Supplier, Joint Venture or Subcontractor. With a proven track record of delivering large scale complex projects they are a progressive and attractive company.

The Role:
We are currently sourcing a Principal Civil and Structural Engineer to join our client's North West Office on an Agency hire basis (6 Month Project Schedule with opportunities to move to other projects) for detailed design for a confidential project in the North West of England.

The candidate will be a Principal Civil & Structural Engineer with a proven track record in civil and structural detailed design projects to help support and grow a UK based project engineering design team executing detailed design projects. We also handle innovative projects involving Concept/ FEED studies.

Good communication, leadership, presentation skills and sensitive management of 3rd parties is essential. Full UK driving licence is also a requirement.

Candidates who have experience in infrastructure, roads, drainage and foundations together with experience of working on sensitive planning and environmental projects are particularly suitable for this position.

Core Responsibilities:
To lead and undertake both Civil & Structural engineering design work with full regard to Safety both in design detail and engineering design execution
To carry out design work in compliance with, UK statutory requirements UK Codes and Standards and Project Basis of Design.
To ensure work is designed and checked in line with client's procedures.
To be innovative in design work with due regard to minimisation of cost, risk and schedule whilst maintaining technical integrity and display sensitivity to the 3rd parties affected by the project.
To undertake all work within the estimated man hour budget and within schedule
To keep all project documentation in a state of readiness for Audit purposes.
To work in an effective and collaborative manner within a multidiscipline engineering team.

Specific Accountabilities:
To provide definition of the Civil & Structural engineering work in the Project, design approach or criteria by skill and experience as directed by the Chief Civil and Structural Engineer.
To clearly understand the Codes and Standards applicable to the work carried out and raise deviations where necessary
Estimate man hours for project and changes.
Responsible for maintaining work progress (budget, schedule) and raising change documentation where necessary.
Supervision of technical detail, budget and schedule of engineering design in Project.
Liaison with customers, vendors and outside parties in a professional manner
To plan man hour budgets and schedules for all Projects within the focal point area of responsibility.
To manage all resources allocated to the focal point area of responsibility (both technically and by discipline specific project controls)
To liaise with the equivalent client focal point on technical and engineering matters on a regular basis
Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the Project.
Safety – Responsible for personal safety safe working practices for the Project. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Degree (or equivalent) in Civil or Structural Engineering – preferably chartered MICE, extensive substantial experience in discipline
Substantial experience in a responsible position of projects with significant infrastructure content and environmentally sensitive.
Good understanding of UK permitting requirements.
Excellent technical communication and coordination skills.
Experience in working in a multidiscipline environment.
Full UK driving licence.
