The Role:
Provides engineering and technical expertise to the assigned drilling team charged with accountability for safe and efficient delivery of asset wells programmes. The job holder reports to the Wells Team Leader and is a key member of the asset Drilling team. Direct reports typically include Lead Drilling Engineers and other junior level drilling engineers and IGDP drilling engineers. His / her peers will typically be the Senior Completions Engineers in the asset, technical leads in collaborating functions in the asset, members of the client's Drilling function and equivalent Drilling roles in license partner organisations. Deputises for the Wells Team Leader in cross-functional matters and with service providers. Acts in the role of Drilling Superintendent as required from time to time.

• Energy to strive for top quartile wells without compromising HSSE and well objectives.• Solid understanding of the drilling and service contractor markets, eg availability, rates, specifications, previous performance etc.• Good knowledge of regulatory requirements.• Sound technical knowledge and understanding • Able to incorporate Business improvement agenda (aligned with TQF), especially on HSE • Willing to challenge (and support) people working in his organisation • Able to build strong relationships with key contractors and drive TQF performance’• Able to communicate upwards and outside the business, including effective communications with partner stakeholders • Able to work in cross-disciplinary teams

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Supports the VP Well Engineering in creating and sustaining healthy HSSE behaviours in the organisation and on all rig and work sites. As an active team member of operational high-risk activities assists in the leadership and knowledge to the overall Asset HSSE culture. • Provides drilling engineering contributions in line with Functional expectations for well design, delivery performance, well costs, new technology, contracting strategy etc. Accountabilities for this role include providing mentorship and technical direction to the assigned Drilling Team in a manner that supports his/her team’s performance:• Contributes to delivery of the Business Plan by carrying out the assigned Functional scope of work in accordance with the client's Way and the Internal Control Framework. In particular, this will require :• Ensures that the requirements of the client's Value Assurance Framework and Wells Delivery Process are honoured • Identifies any compliance gaps to Functional standards.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• University degree required. Chartered Engineer (or equivalent) status preferred. • Range of drilling (exploration, appraisal & development), experience (in office and field operational environments) is fundamental to position. • Range of drilling experience with different type of drilling units (eg - semi-submersibles, jack ups, offshore platform drilling). • Experience with Subsea development drilling, including experience with execution planning and running of subsea horizontal Xmas trees.• Genuine HSSE commitment and behaviours. Able to communicate expectations to rig contractor and service companies at shore base coordinator and wellsite working levels.• Strong knowledge of a variety of drilling systems, engineering software, techniques, technologies and processes.
• Effective professional relations with service companies at all levels, in both planning and execution settings. • Good knowledge of the E&P Value Chain and of cross-disciplinary interactions with Well Engineering.•
