The Role:
Our client in Glasgow is looking for Principal Electrical Engineers to carry out the electrical scope of work on various FEED, EPC and PMC projects for domestic and international clients. Sound technical knowledge coupled with leadership and decision making skills are required to ensure the delivery of challenging project and client targets.

They require experienced Principal Electrical Engineers, with a broad range of electrical engineering design skills gained from the Oil & Gas industry or similar Process Engineering Industries, and who are able to lead small teams of engineers and designers.
The right candidates will be highly motivated, able to work independently, and have demonstrable leadership qualities. They will be confident in their own ability to deliver the electrical scope on a project on time and within budget, while facilitating effective work share with other execution centres around the world.


• Ensure timely production of deliverables associated with the Electrical Engineering aspects of assigned Concept, FEED or EPC Projects,
• Manage a team of Electrical Engineers and Designers on assigned projects,
• Management of man hour budgets, contract changes and schedule delivery.
• Execute assigned work in accordance with the applicable Project Procedures and Standards, including Project Procedures on Safety and Quality Control, within the man-hour and cost budgets and the project schedule targets.
• Develop specification and prepare material requisitions for electrical switchgear, UPS, MCC, power transformers, trace heating materials and distribution equipment, lighting, earthing and other electrical equipment as necessary.
• Review Vendors' quotations, prepare technical quotation evaluation and recommend the final technically acceptable Vendor. Technically approve Order Variation Summaries. Review and approve Vendor order documentation.
• Carry out electrical system studies.

Liaise with other departments and the client as necessary but in particular.
• With the Process Engineering Department at all stages of the project where equipment has a particular influence on the process design philosophy.
• With Mechanical Equipment, Utilities and Project Groups in relation to electrical equipment associated with packages, to ensure compliance with Project Standards and requirements.
• With Electrical Design Section in relation to electrical matters and review of critical drawings.
• With the Client's Electrical Engineer on technical matters concerning electrical equipment.

Carry out other duties assigned by the Chief Electrical Engineer and in particular:
• Carry out technical investigations, produce technical reports, engineering standards and procedures.
• Assist in the development and training of personnel including graduate engineers when requested.
• Participate in proposal activities as required.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Chartered Electrical Engineer or working towards Chartership,
• Degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 10 years of experience in Refinery/Petrochemical/Chemical/Power/Pharmaceutical Plant Projects or similar Process Industry Engineering,
• Knowledge of electrical power systems. Conversant with international codes and standards of electrical power systems. Familiar with PC based software for electrical system studies/calculations
• Experience of electrical technical specification of materials and services for greenfield new builds and or brownfield modification projects
• Highly motivated, well organized, resourceful and proactive
• Possess good interpersonal skills with sound written and oral communication skills
• Flexible approach and able to work under pressure with a can-do attitude and a desire to win
• Ability to promote an open and informal communication environment that aims at growing mutual trust and teamwork
