The Company:
Our Client is engaged in front end studies, modifications to existing platforms operations and maintenance contracts, field decommissioning and removal. The company has some 2,200 employees. Field development with new platforms covering all engineering disciplines. Procurement, material administration and project management.

The Role:
The Principal Engineer - Electronics performs the engineering design function by applying his / her technical expertise in a professional manner in order to comply with prescribed objectives.
This role is to provide technical direction during the whole product life cycle from conceptual design through to end of life of the range of subsea electronics modules and associated sub-assemblies detailed below (but not limited to):
• Subsea electronic modules
• Subsea routing modules
• Remote power controllers
• Subsea power supply units
• HIPPS Electronics modules
The main roles performed in the day to day execution of the services are as follows:
Understanding of all relevant International Standards.
Develop standard products to meet client requirements & specifications.
Maintain and improve / simplify our design and operating processes.
Lead and provide guidance
In the development / establishment of new technologies and core technical competencies.
To engineers for the reviewing of client specifications, to ensure products are suitable for application.
To engineers to ensure optimum solutions will work with current product or proposed products.
To engineers in the development of prototypes, verification / validation units and product specifications, including material specifications, assembly drawings and manufacturing documentation.
Manage Engineering Change Orders.
Perform and oversee Design Reviews.
Provide support and direction for Engineering, Tendering, Supply Chain and Manufacturing.
Provide technical & commercial product benchmarking.
Perform RCA, FMEA and FMECA reporting as required.
Liaise with Systems Solutions department and other engineering disciplines to ensure that non-qualified products and developments meet the current and foreseeable future Project requirements.
Has a continual awareness of new / advancing technologies, meet with / assess Suppliers and provides conceptual and practical applications for products used.
Provide sustaining engineering direction and support for existing products.
Manage activities of Senior Engineers and mentor Engineers / Graduates in their day to day work.
Perform / assist with appraisals of Engineers and Graduates.
Additionally, when workload demands, the job holder may be assigned other duties as defined by the Supervisor.
Create Intellectual Property (IP) through idea and product submissions and patent applications. The Principal Engineer ensures the protection and completion of these activities for both themselves and other members of their workgroup.
Having the authority and taking the accountability for the products & standard designs. Responsibility to interface towards the Chief Engineering to ensure all faults are monitored, trends identified and appropriate continuous improvements are implemented.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Degree or HNC / HND with relevant industry experience.
Demonstrable relevant Electronic Engineering experience in a industry with high reliability demands
Will have a sound working knowledge of offshore industry best practices.
Demonstrable experience in the ability to carry out all elements of digital and analogue electronic design.
Preferably Chartered Engineer Status.
Candidates / job-holders without the relevant formal qualifications above but possessing other academic or vocational qualifications or who can demonstrate a greater level of relevant practical experience with a proven track-record may be considered equally competent.
Have a proven involvement with multi-disciplined Projects, and be familiar with equipment and activities throughout all levels of business.
Proficient in Altium designer or similar schematic capture and PCB layout tools
Knowledge of FPGA/CPLD programming
Knowledge of embedded software systems and RTOS
Working knowledge of IEC61508 design proces
