The Role:
My EPCM Client is currently seeking applications for a Principal / Lead Safety and Risk Engineer position. This role will be based in the Perth CBD and has a duration of 12 months. The purpose of the role is to provide high level safety and risk engineering services either as part of multidisciplinary engineering services on projects or as stand-alone safety and risk consulting services to clients

Responsibilities

• Facilitate Hazard Identification (HAZID), Hazard and Operability (HAZOP), SIL Determination, and other risk assessment workshops
• Lead a group of safety and risk engineers on a project

Coordinate preparation of safety and risk discipline deliverables during Concept, FEED and/or Detailed Design, including:
• Formal safety assessment studies / safety cases for onshore and offshore installations:
◦ Hazard Register
◦ Major Accident Event Analysis
◦ Fire and Explosion Risk Analysis
◦ Dropped Object Risk Assessment
◦ Non Hydrocarbon Risk Assessment
◦ Smoke and Gas Ingress Analysis
◦ Escape, Temporary Refuge, Evacuation and Rescue Analysis
◦ Temporary Refuge Impairment Analysis
◦ Emergency System Survivability Assessment
◦ Quantitative Risk Assessment
◦ Cost Benefit Analysis
◦ ALARP Demonstration
• Safety in Design and Safety System Functional Specifications:
◦ Safety in Design Philosophy
◦ Inherent Safety
◦ Layout Safety Review
◦ Hazardous Area Classification and Ignition Control
◦ Bunding and Drainage
◦ IPF / SIL Reviews and Verification
◦ Fire and Gas Detection, Alarm and Executive Actions
◦ Emergency Shutdown and Depressurisation
◦ Passive Fire Protection
◦ Active Fire Protection
◦ Blast Protection
◦ Escape, TR, Evacuation and Rescue Facilities
◦ Portable Fire Fighting, Life Saving and Emergency Equipment
◦ Safety Signs
◦ Safety Critical Element Performance Standards
◦ Safety Action Tracking and Closeout
• Undertake pipeline risk assessment
• Undertake jetty and marine operations risk assessment
• Undertake stand-alone safety and risk consulting assignments for a range of clients in Hydrocarbons, Minerals and Metals, Power, and Infrastructure sectors.

To be successful in this position you will need;

Skills

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
15+ years experience as a Safety and Risk Engineer on major offshore / onshore hydrocarbon projects during Concept, FEED and/or Detailed Design phases.

Knowledge of;
Commonwealth, State and Territory regulations relating to offshore petroleum installations and safety cases
State and Territory regulations relating to Major Hazard Facility and onshore safety cases
State and Territory OH&S regulations
State and Territory pipeline safety regulations
Australian and International Standards on risk management, offshore installation and onshore facility hazard management, and safety system design
Guidelines on formal safety assessment and safety case
Guidelines on safety system design
