The Company:
The Company is a market leader in the UK Nuclear Decommissioning industry.

At present they are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to be based out of their Risley Base.

The Role:
As a senior member of the Engineering Design Management Team, you will manage multi-discipline engineering resources to ensure design delivery to projects and adherence to design processes and standards.
The Principal Mechanical Engineer is principally a design delivery role from a technical perspective working across a multi-disciplined design team.

The Principal Mechanical Engineer is usually responsible for delivering the design within their own discipline with frequent liaison / management of engineers within the design team from other disciplines.

The responsibilities of the Principal Mechanical Engineer also provides technical guidance and imparts knowledge to Senior Engineers, Lead Engineers, Design engineers, Graduates and Designers.

The Principal Mechanical Engineer will be involved with
• Ensuring work areas and designs are Safe (SHE)
• Act as Senior Design professional in relevant discipline
• Ensure Compliance with Design Process
• Resource Management and Line Management within discipline group
• Support M&S and MPD in winning new business
• Oversee design delivery for selected projects
• Business Combinations
• Radiological Protection

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Degree qualified in a relevant technical / engineering discipline is essential.
Experience in the nuclear sector is essential. It is also a requirement of the position to demonstrate experience gained in a design delivery role ideally from a highly regulated industry. This could be from but is not limited to the Defence, Pharmaceutical or Oil & Gas sectors

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Chartered engineer desirable.
Experience of incell piping or grout plant delivery would be a distinct advantage
Technical experience could be gained from but is not limited to precision engineering, conveyer systems, remote handling systems / equipment, heavy engineering, cranes, pipes and pumps
