The Company:
Our client is an Engineering Services company, who are an international technical consultancy, providing a range of services including licence to operate, asset management, manufacturing improvement and capital investment to customers in the chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and consumer industries worldwide

The Role:
Product design and development engineer, with experience required in Flowmeter design and applications, especially Electromagnetic (EM) and Ultrasonic.

As Principal Mechanical Engineer for Electromagnetic & Ultrasonic flowmeter technologies you will responsible for, but not limited to:
* Electromagnetic sensor and ultrasonic transducer product design including materials specification.
* Innovative thinking to product solutions or sub systems, meeting customer needs and requirements for flowmeter design.
* Keeping abreast of new relevant technology changes and their application.
* Assisting advanced technical support of application and product issues.
* Planning and documenting own work at all stages of development cycle.
* Team working, communication skills, technical support to other departments, ability to work independently if necessary.
* Writing design architecture and detailed design requirements specifications.
* Design, testing and prototyping to agreed timescales and specification.
* Contributing to product performance and quality improvements.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Minimum BSc or higher in Physics, Mechanical engineering, Electronic engineering or similar qualification.
* >5 years' experience in the field of flow measurement, ideally in industrial product design and development.
* Understanding of fluid dynamics, pressure vessel design and materials.
* Experience with finite element analysis, thermal / emf / hydraulic flow profile modelling.
* Proven record of problem solving with a creative, analytical and practical approach to finding solutions.
* Experience of industrial instrumentation.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
* Knowledge of water applications.
* Experience with software simulation and circuit analysis tools such as LabView, MathCAD, Matlab, PSpice, MicroCap or similar.
* Ability to write and present technical articles.
* Understanding of intellectual property protection.
* Detailed understanding of magnetics, electromagnetism or ultrasonics.
