The Company:
Our large oil and gas client is seeking a Principal Process Engineer for a long term opportunity in Houston.

The Role:
To lead a team of Process Engineering Specialists involved in reviewing the design of flare, relief and blowdown systems on major oil & gas installations worldwide. This may involve reviewing the process safety provisions relating to LOPA, SIL and hazop activities in addition to the engineering design of relief and associated systems.

As the technical lead on flare and process safety in design reviews you will interface with the client's nominated technical authority, providing information on the methodologies to be employed, the checking & approval processes employed and providing regular reports on any technical issues encountered and progress achieved.

You will bring an in depth knowledge and understanding of both onshore and offshore oil & gas industry ideally with operating knowledge in he oil & gas sector.

Responsibilities:
• Technical lead on all assignments carrying out initial review of requirements on assignment, developing a proposed execution plan and estimating the type and volume of resources required.
• Design and implementation of QA systems that will ensure all work is carried out in a robust and consistent manner.
• Supervising a team of engineers and providing technical support to help solve any technical issues.
• Delivering own technical work as part of the team.
• Establish schedules and modify, as appropriate, to cost-effectively support all contract commitments. Provide regular updates to client management regarding engagement progress. Recommend corrective actions and implement measures to reduce adverse impact.
• Provide technical expertise to multiple, diverse projects simultaneously. Ensure implementation program contract quality and other obligations are met, and recommend and implement measures to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Establish communications network with clients, vendors, site and internal team personnel, and ensure proper flow of critical information.
• Attend project review meetings to review progress, define relationships among various groups, discuss contract change requests and resolves problems.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related field and minimum of 10 years experience working in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical or Chemical industries preferably including LNG and/or FLNG.
• Additional experience in Operation or Maintenance role for at least 5 years, or have been operating as a Process Engineer in these industries for at least 10 years.
• In depth expert knowledge of flare system design, operation and scenario planning. Knowledge of flare system modelling using specialist software packages such as Aspen Flare System Analyser.

Complexity of Tasks:
Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills to influence employee groups managers. Requires in-depth understanding of corporate and business unit practices and processes, interrelationships with markets and ability to resolve complex problems. Requires facilitation skills and strategic planning skills. Foreign travel and availability for communications in any time zone may be necessary.
