The Role:
As the demand for our expertise continues to grow; an opportunity has now arisen for process engineers at all levels to join our North East Engineering Centre based in Darlington. You will be responsible to the Process Engineering Discipline Manager and will ensure delivery of process engineering design services to safety, quality, cost and time parameters. Projects delivered from this office include oil & gas Brownfield/Greenfield, power, chemicals and CCS from study to detailed design and EPC support. Darlington is currently a centre of excellence for gas storage and transmission and carbon, capture and storage.



Purpose/Role

• To deputise for the Process Discipline Manager when required

• To act at all times in accordance with the Policy on Health, Safety and the Environment

• Where required, supervise Discipline and Graduate Engineers

• Ensure that all allocated responsibilities are dealt with properly

• Ensure that the client business drivers and company performance incentives are fully understood by all discipline personnel being supervised

Maintain technical integrity within discipline



Key/Aims Objectives

• Provision of process engineering services to projects as assigned, including;

• Process flow diagrams and P&ID’s

• Process engineering calculations and simualtions

• Design survey and assessments of existing process/equipment

• Feasibility and Optioneering Studies

• Hazard Identification Studies (e.g. HAZOP, FMEA etc)

• Communicate effectively within a multidiscipline design team in addition to Client and Supply Chain representatives to ensure project requirements and expectations are met

• Ensure all technical documents and data are prepared and structured in accordance with relevant design codes, standards and legislation

• Ensure the design satisfies all operational and safety requirements

• Check and verify engineering documents in line with the technical and quality plan.

• Responsible for assessing effectiveness of working practices and systems with a view to continuously improving systems, personal and team performance

• Carry out work in accordance with AMEC and project Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality systems

• Ensure, as far as is practically possible, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with agreed budget and schedule

• Keep up to date with technical developments, National and International standards and legislative requirements related to the general scope

• Assist in developing the knowledge and skills of the discipline assigned staff, including assisting in the training and technical development of engineers

• Prepare estimates and assist in the review of proposed schedules

• Ensure that results of any development work are fully utilized throughout discipline activities

• Taking part and contributing to construction risk assessments and construction method statements

• Responsible as a key member of any project team for achieving the project target and completion of the project within the budget and schedule

• Producing cost effective designs that are fit for purpose and safe

• Producing work packs in support of offshore projects where required

• Shall take into account all aspects of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act (1974), but particularly Section 7.0 relating to general duties of employees i.e. 'Employees must take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts of omissions. They must also co-operate with their employer so far as is necessary to enable to comply with his duties under the Act'

• Shall ensure all personnel working under their direction are aware of the above requirement

Under the above Act shall implement those aspects of Section 2.0 by providing the necessary information, instruction, training and assistance to carry out their work safely

• Attend relevant Safety, Health and Environmental awareness training provided by the company which will help meet the above requirements

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Substantial experience of Process Engineering

• Oil, Gas and Petrochemical experience is preferred

• A degree in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent) is essential

• MIChemE is desirable
