The Role:
TANZANIA PROJECT - PRINCIPAL PROCESS ENGINEER
The Organisation
Our client is progressing with the development of its recently announced gas discoveries offshore Tanzania. The multi-billion dollar development consist of two large sub-sea hubs which will feed a multi-train onshore LNG facility on the coast of Tanzania between Dar es Salaam and Mtwara. The gas would be liquefied and shipped primarily to Asia Pacific markets where demand in natural gas is growing. The project is currently in the Assess phase and is expected to move into the SELECT phase in 2014.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Engineering Manager the Principal Process Engineer shall:
• Provide specialist technical support for the Process engineering work in the Tanzania development.
• Provide Process engineering design input to the Tanzania project during the Select, Define and Execute stages (Upstream scope)
• Act as the owner’s technical representative in the area of Process engineering for Pre-FEED and FEED studies carried out by third party engineering contractors. Ensure facilities are designed to meet the company and the project technical specifications and are safe and operable.

Key Accountabilities
• Acts as focal point for authoritative Process engineering knowledge across the project and company.
• Provide Process engineering input to the Tanzania development project.
• Manage the Process engineering element of contractor performance on conceptual studies, Pre FEED, FEED and detailed design work to assure it meets the company’s technical, financial, safety and environmental objectives.
• Provide input into economic evaluations of equipment alternatives with particular emphasis on availability and reliability projections and life cycle costs (Total Cost of Ownership: TCO).
• Participate in PEER assists, PEER Reviews and Technical Assurance reviews to add value and ensure compliance with the company’s assurance framework and approvals procedures.
• Provide input to the identification and mitigation of technical risks.
• Maintain an up to date knowledge of developments and practices in Process engineering
• Transfer process and Process technical knowledge to plant operations and engineering support staff.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Technical professional with proven experience in a wide range of international project environments including commissioning and startup.
• Knowledge and experience of subsea tiebacks, offshore facilities and onshore gas processing is essential. Knowledge and experience of LNG projects and technologies is preferred but not essential.
• Skilled in the application of relevant major design codes and standards (API, NFPA, etc)
• Experience in a client/operator environment on projects in the Select, Define and Execute stages.
• Knowledge of the safety, environmental and operational aspects of their work including writing project design bases and functional requirements during project early development stages.
• Knowledge of breadth and depth of Process engineering needed to manage the quality control of contractor technical work, ensuring appropriate techniques and standards.
