The Company:
Our client is a nuclear specialist, covering both civilian and defence sectors, across the complete lifecycle from New Build, through Operations and Maintenance, to final decommissioning and waste disposal.

The Role:
High calibre Senior Process Engineer with capability to become a Principal Engineer / Process Team Leader after 6 to 12 months of service.

The Senior / Principal Engineer has experience and proven track record as single discipline ‘expert’ with responsibility for managing quality, delivery and adherence to the design processes and procedures within the Process discipline.

The Process Engineer provides technical direction for the Process department in collaboration with the Process Team Leader.

The Engineer undertakes design delivery role from a technical perspective working across a multi-disciplined design team and is responsible for influencing and delivering the design within their own discipline with frequent liaison/management of engineers within the design team from other disciplines.


• Development of designs to satisfy technical specifications together with checking and approving the design of other engineers within the team.
• Lead optioneering studies, plus design and safety reviews (risk assessments / HAZOP’s) from technical standpoint within the discipline.
• Close liaison with and influencing the client and project team for the preparation and delivery of technical documentation throughout the design process.
• Ensure quality and delivery of design documentation throughout the design process including scope of works, method statements, risk assessments, technical files and technical documentation to comply with design standards, safety legislation/regulatory requirements and the needs of the client.
• Presentation of design documentation and active member of design and technical committees, design review meetings and being a key part of the decision making process.
• Allocation of work to other members of team in order to ensure delivery of design to quality, time and budget.
• Selection, strategy and management of work to sub-contractors.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Degree qualified in a relevant technical/engineering discipline is essential. Chartered Engineer (IChemE) status is expected for this position. A full UK drivers licence is essential for this position as travelling between offices will be necessary to undertake the duties.

• Demonstrable competence gained in a design delivery position within a project based environment
• Experience in nuclear sector is required. It is a requirement of the position to demonstrate experience gained in a design delivery role ideally from a highly regulated industry
• Experience of delivering “safe” designs and risk/safety management as a deliverable. This could be from but is not limited to the Pharmaceutical, Oil & Gas or Water industry sectors
• Technical process engineering experience in radioactive waste management, decommissioning and effluent (aerial and liquid) treatment
