The Role:
Principal Process Engineer - Operations

The Principal Process Engineer will take a lead role during EPC, Commissioning, and ensuing Operations, reporting to the Process Engineering Manager. He/she will be responsible for supporting the integrity of the design, pre-Commissioning preparation, Commissioning, and ensuing Operations process and training support primarily for Liquefaction Unit.

During the pre-commissioning phase, the Principal Process Engineer will:
•be a technical reference for process engineers and other discipline engineers
•mentor and train process engineers
•review EPC design documents and coordinate with EPC Process Engineering to ensure complete and high-quality design documents
•take a lead role in technical reviews, such as HAZID, HAZOP, Model Reviews, SIL Reviews, RAM Analyses, Layout Reviews, QRA, EIA
•take ownership of Cause and Effects, ESD/EDP systems, Relief Systems, Process Control
•identify and analyze all process tie-ins and each tie-in's specific procedures
•assist in preparation for commissioning
•develop full plant simulations, process calculations, and operations analysis and reporting systems
•become completely familiar with relevant standards and codes, EA assessments, and FERC requirements
•participate in and support equipment check-outs
•lead the development of the Operations control and panels operators and supervisors.
•take a lead role in the development of the process controls
•develop guarantee test run procedures in conjunction with Operations superintendents
•develop Operations Reporting specific to process analysis
•support the development of operating procedures and philosophies
•take a lead role with the development of training programs
•ensure process technology staff operates within specified competency levels, and identify third-party support requirements, for all developments outside company competency.
•provide team training in situational analysis for plant panel operators.

During Commissioning, the Principal Process Engineer will
•be a technical reference for process engineers and other discipline engineers and Operations
•provide full and continuous support to Operations
•troubleshoot the process as required
•provide continuous Operations analysis
•provide a lead role — bilateral with operations superintendents — to perform guarantee test runs
•manage and lead process engineers
•coordinate and utilize EPC Process and also vendor specialists
•implement Operations Reporting

During the post-Commissioning Phase — early operations — the Principal Process Engineer will
•be a technical reference for process engineers and other discipline engineers and Operations
•continue to mentor, train, and lead process engineers
•develop, run, and report high-load test runs
•debrief EPC Engineering and vendors
•troubleshoot as required
•perform de-bottlenecking analysis

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

•BS in Chemical Engineering

Experience and skills:
•10-20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry including at least 3 LNG (liquefaction) projects
•have considerable experience in simulation, specifically in LNG, and be adaptable to learning a new simulator application
•have significant experience in dynamic simulation or demonstrate capability to do so
•have had significant experience in LNG design, not necessarily CWHE or C3MR
•have had significant experience in debottlenecking and modifications of the existing plants
•have had significant experience in process control, not necessarily LNG
•have had significant experience working for or with an EPC company, not necessarily in LNG
•be conversant and familiar with APCI CWHE process control
-have been a lead process engineer for at least 5 years
•be able to take a lead role in technical meetings and studies
•be familiar with working in Operations, control rooms, and operators
•be demonstrably able to
