The Company:
Our client has been established for over 20 years locally and is focused on delivering design solutions to the nuclear industry, specialising in the design of mechanical handling plant and equipment, the design and installation of plant control systems and the provision of support to plant safety reviews.

The Role:
• The Principal Project Manager is accountable for the overall delivery of complex, large value and/or high risk project(s) so as to achieve favourable outcomes in respect of customer satisfaction, time, cost and quality.
• The Principal Project Manager manages all aspects of the client relationship including scheduling and contractual change control.
• The Principal Project Manager supports the Bids, Sales and Engineering functions in developing and winning future opportunities.
• Develop the cost base, margin and cash flow analysis, partnering/supplier strategy, risk assessment and mitigation, EHS&Q plan, overall delivery programme and lifetime support for large value bids.
• Provide Project Management input into the preparation of complex, large value bids.
• Ensure the availability of SQEP personnel to deliver the contract and, where necessary, arrange for personnel training to meet the programme requirements.
• Manage the project delivery team, through a team of Project Managers (where appropriate) and with the support of the Operations Director.
• The Principal Project Manager will have input Project data onto the Company’s Business Management System, including monthly updates for Earned Value and the production of a monthly financial report
• Key customer interface for the project including contractual change control and customer reporting and progress meetings
• The Principal Project Manager will manage the cost budget for the entire project ensuring that margins are maintained through continuous cost review and analysis.
• Develop and implement the overall project schedule including resource allocation and critical path analysis
• Risk management of the entire project including risk assessment and risk mitigation techniques and apply these rigorously throughout the project implementation.
• Overall responsibility for the EHS&Q of the project including Safety Plans and ensuring sub-contractors conform to all EHS&Q requirements in liaison with the EHS&Q department.
• The Principal Project Manager will manage change control throughout the project including Early Warning Notice and Compensation Event Notices as required.
• Lead the partnering/supplier strategy and support Project Managers in developing contracts for sub-contractors.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Proven background in commercial Tier 2 contract management.
• Proven background in pre and post contract negotiation.
• Proven experience in contract change management.
• Senior experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Tertiary engineering/technical qualification, such as HNC, degree or equivalent experience.
• APMP or PRINCE2 qualified.
• Substantial NEC 3 experience.
• UK driving license.
• Senior project management experience within the UK nuclear industry.
• Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6 experience.
