The Role:
The Principal Rotating Equipment Engineer will provide technical assurance, leadership, and support the detailed design phases of major EPC projects. Work activities include audit and assurance of EPC’s design to Project contractual obligations and specifications through coordination with EPC counterparts and other disciplines. This candidate must also have extensive experience in the installation and operation of large process compressors. The industry specifications include API, ASME, ANSI, PIP and other process industry codes and standards. The Rotating Equipment Engineer will be expected to follow the project to the field to assist with construction, commissioning, and start-up activities later in the project schedule.

The Principal Rotating Equipment Engineer will provide mentoring for Rotating Equipment Engineers, and stay abreast of current Rotating Equipment developments though participation in Industry technical shows and committees.

This position will be located initially in Houston and relocate to Hackberry, LA and will transition from the Construction Team to Commissioning and Start-up team as the project progresses. Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC) will be required.

· Audit EPC detailed EPC designs for rotating equipment; gas turbines, refrigerant and process compressors, drivers, gearboxes, blowers and pumps and their associated auxiliary support systems.

· Ensure equipment is designed and constructed to be safe, to perform the requirements of the process, and to meet the Project specifications.

· Review equipment inquiry/purchase requisitions & technical bid evaluations supplied by EPC for correctness of selection.

· Review in an audit and assurance role vendor drawings and data, test procedures, reports and calculations.

· Attend Kick-off, Detailed Design, Model Reviews, Pre-Inspection Meetings.

· Participate in Process HAZID and HAZOP analysis as needed.

· Participates in factory acceptance tests and inspections.

· Interface with EPC counterparts, other EPC and Client. disciplines on a project task force and Vendors.
Mentor younger Rotating Engineers.
· Stay abreast of current Rotating Equipment developments through participation in Industry technical shows and committees.

Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties)

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Education:

· Require Bachelor’s degree in engineering; mechanical related preferred.

Experience:

· Must have experience specifically related to various types rotating equipment; gas turbines, large refrigerant ant or process compressors, drivers, gearboxes, blowers and pumps and their associated auxiliary support systems and/or skid mounted packaged systems.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

· Excellent communication skills.

· Independent and works with little or no supervision.

· Familiarity and ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical diagrams, including flow charts, cause/effect diagrams, and Piping and Instrument Drawings (P&IDs).

· Must have a good working knowledge of API, ASME, ANSI, PIP and other process industry codes and standards.

· Ability to maintain multiple assignments with various deadlines and responsibility levels concurrently.
