Our Client is a global leader with annual revenues of over £3 billion. They are a robust and focused supplier of high-value consultancy, engineering and project management services to the world’s Oil and Gas, Minerals and Metals, Green Energy, Environment and Infrastructure markets. Their Australian is are undergoing an exciting growth phase which will see the business grow organically by 50% year on year, over the next 5 years.

The Role:
We are currently seeking a Principal Civil/Structural Engineer to manage our clients Engineering team working on a multi-million dollar iron ore project in Western Australia. This is a key role to ensure that designs are not over-engineered and in accordance with project time, budget and technical requirements. You will provide effective leadership, guidance and support to less experienced staff in a fast paced environment.

You will be responsible for the following;

• Responsible for production and/or review of engineering deliverables including models, drawings, calculations, specifications, reports, evaluations etc.
• Giving technical and commercial direction to Engineers and over viewing design quality, time schedules and budgets and detailed review of critical design aspects of projects
• Act as the key link between the project team and the engineering discipline group.
• Monitor the progress and performance of project discipline teams. Give input and provide feedback and support where necessary.
• Provide feedback to the Project Engineering Manager on design progress budget and schedule.
• Oversee design scope changes.
• Provide solutions to engineering problems.
• Provide guidance on technical matters to the engineering management team.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
To be considered you will demonstrate the following;

• Bachelor of Civil/Structural Engineering
• Eligibility for membership of the Institute of Engineers Australia
• Minimum of 15 years engineering experience, with at least 10 years in the mining and metals processing field
• Excellent decision making skills and ability to communicate effectively
• Strong managerial and leadership experience
• Well-developed computer skills and knowledge of relational databases and spreadsheets
