The Role:
The Principal Subsea Engineer is responsible for assisting the Capping Team Lead in ensuring the technical quality and integrity of the capping “toolbox” system being engineered, manufactured and supplied. The scope includes the design, procurement, manufacture, testing and commissioning of the capping “toolbox” system.

The position is required to liaise with and provide direction to the selected contractors in technical and operational matters during the performance of detailed design engineering, procurement, manufacture and all testing phases within the scope of responsibility for the position.

Key Accountabilities
• Develop, coordinate and lead the design & detail engineering of the Capping “Toolbox” system to meet the approved performance and business criteria and stakeholders requirements.
• Interface with the Dispersant and Containment project teams in SWRP.
• Demonstrate visible leadership and commitment to excellent HSSE performance in support of the Capping Team Lead accountabilities.
• Participate in the design process to ensure constructability, installabillity and maintainability aspects are incorporated.
• Manage the applicable Performance Standards and Safety Critical Elements relating to the Capping “Toolbox” system.
• Support the detailed analysis of the Capping “Toolbox” system to ensure that the facilities will be optimally rapid deployment on a global basis
• A core member of the engineering, manufacture, testing, commissioning & hand-over team.
• Prepare technical and progress reports to support the flow of information to management to assist in decision taking. Assure the technical material supporting the decision log.
• Apply the process of design verification by a third party or parties, and ensure incorporation of this into the overall process for system integrity.
• Ensure that the process of design documentation management is understood and applied by contractor(s) including review and approval and subsequent storage of design documents.
• Contribute to the Management of Change process in terms of engineering reviews, changes and potential changes.
• Ensure that all the project interfaces are identified and engineered, with particular emphasis to the Containment system where appropriate.
• Ensure adequate close-out of projects and completed handover to SWRP Project Manager
• And as part of the Project Team, be pro-active in performing any tasks necessary to make the SWRP Capping “Toolbox” system a success

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Proven experience of subsea in multiple projects and operations. Experience of subsea engineering in all lifecycle phases, including concept selection, FEED, detailed design, commissioning and operations and for projects and operations with high complexity and high focus.
• Must be fully Globally Mobile for subsequent project roles.
• Experience in a multidisciplinary team as well as in client/operator roles in the management of contractors with active involvement in the application of quality assurance and quality control to contractors engineering activities. This includes reviewing models, calculations, philosophies and designs and active participation in reviews and risk/hazard management activities.
• Demonstrable commitment to HSE, working continuously for improvement both in own activities and in those of the assets, projects or other business activities in which they are involved and able to apply HSE principles across all technical activities.
