The Company:
Our major oil & gas client is looking to recruit a Process & Controls Advisor to work within their Finance department in Iraq on a rotational basis.

The Role:
The role will need sound accounting and financial knowledge as a foundation but will be predominantly focusing on controls activities and processes.

The project is in Basra Iraq, so the person must be willing to rotate into Iraq and work alongside expats and local nationals. The project is still in its early stages and a great opportunity for a hard-working individual who is also a quick learner to build on their knowledge. The potential candidate will receive on-the-job training but will need to come up to speed quickly to support the Process & Control team.

Process & Control
• Audit coordination
• Preparing and reviewing supporting documentation including invoices (by vendor, by contract, by work order) and billed-in costs.
o Ensure adequate controls
o Assist in audit preparation
• Process documentation
• Record retention
• Management and Protection of Information
• Help to design and implement financial processes
• Improve the controls framework and suggest practical controls initiatives for implementation in the organization to mitigate risk/exposure
• Assist in preparing various stewardship reports and Controls metrics
• Assist in on-the-job training and offsite training for secondees

Accounting activities
• Preparation of monthly bank journal and update banking entries
• Reconciliation of services provided and track necessary support
• Draft Cash call and Joint Interest Billing statements

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Analytical skills / problem solving
• Communication and interpersonal skills
• Arabic speaking/reading (not a must)
• Good accounting knowledge
• Quick learner since will need to learn new processes
• Team Worker
• Sound computing skills (a must: advanced Excel and PowerPoint)
