The Company:
Our client is a Multinational Chemical company which will construct, own and operate a world-scale integrated chemicals complex in Saudi Arabia. Once completed, the complex will represent the largest petrochemical facility ever built in a single phase. Our client will establish a world-scale manufacturing footprint that delivers a full range of value-added, performance products destined for the emerging markets of Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Africa.

The Role:
Lead the development of appropriate process safety strategies by applying practical plant and knowledge and experiences; ensure that SIS programming and Operator Interface are user friendly and effective at alarming and safeguarding against abnormalities in plant equipment.

1. Guide project teams and support engineering activities in Layer Of Protection Analysis (LOPA) sessions and the appropriate SIS layers of protection configurations of SIS loops to meet the desired Safety-Integrity Level (SIL), and the plant reliability requirements and test intervals.

2. Develop simulation to test written SIS code, operator interface and provide a realistic demonstration of equipment and plant safety shutdown.

3. Perform the SIS Validation prior to implementation. This involves reviewing and approving the process automation software, hardware, and plant operating discipline required for SIS implementations and modifications to ensure the viability of the SIS Develop Process Control Strategy Descriptions (PCSDs) by applying plant knowledge and experience.

4. Provide approval to the installation details and commissioning plans of SIS loops prior to validation by signing the verification section of the documentation and report any defects to the DPA SIS Auditor for the final audit report.

5. Review and approve all modifications in SIS Loops and proof test intervals.

6. Participate in developing engineering standards and design best practices, design manuals or other documentation to enhance company profitability, safety and productivity.

7. Review and evaluate the capabilities of vendors and contractors to determine their acceptability to perform major services

8. Work on or with Task Force Teams assigned to investigate incidents or solve specific problems.

9. Undertake special assignments requiring extensive technical experience and discretion when dealing with outside organizations.

10. Ensure that all principles, procedures and practices strictly comply with EH&S guidelines, regulatory and permit requirements.

11. Keep abreast with the advances in the industry to introduce best practices and new technologies from all over the world helping the Sadara achieve world-class operations.

12. Perform any job-related activities as requested by the immediate supervisor/manager.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or any relevant field.
