The Role:
Work with the Process Control Engineering Unit to support process control and DCS systems and provide technical support to plant operations.
Perform system monitoring and software/database maintenance.
Support the day-to-day activities of operations and maintenance in the field of Process Control Engineering.
Provide support covering troubleshooting, conceptual design, detailed design, upgrades, technical studies, project reviews, performance monitoring and improvement for all advance process control systems.
Review control system project proposals and design packages, and conduct equipment factory acceptance tests (FATs), site acceptance tests (SATs), hot cutovers, commissioning, and new plant startups.
Review and provide technical support on major DCS upgrade projects.
Develop and implement strategies and programs to enhance plant availability and to reduce operating and maintenance costs; this includes the application of new technology.
Coordinate, commission and support Advanced Process Control (APC) applications.
Be responsible for the design, configuration and implementation of an Emergency Shutdown System (ESD).
Provide support to auxiliary system PLCs like GE Fanuc, as well as compressor and turbine control systems.
Act as a DCS system reference/information source and provide operations and plant maintenance groups with the system technical support required.
Participate in Process Control technical committees.
Perform modifications to the DCS database, schematics and logic as required.
Review, design and troubleshoot networking and integration related issues for the various DCS and auxiliary systems.
Participate in and/or lead investigation teams and provide sounds and applicable recommendations related to Process Control System failures.
Provide coaching and mentoring as required.
Lead and recommend continuous improvement solutions for the various DCS and auxiliary systems with a view to improving system performance.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Computer or Software Engineering.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, or a closely related process industry, in the field of process control and process control application development.
Knowledge of oil and gas facilities operations.
Specific experience with in Honeywell TPS3000/Experion PKS systems or Yokogawa CS3000 systems, as well as the Triconex ESD systems, Bently Nevada vibration monitoring systems and metering systems.
