The Role:
Description:

Our client is seeking qualified candidates for a Process Controls (DCS) Engineer opening. The position will be assigned various instrument projects, maintenance support, etc., possibly including the Crude Oil Flexibility Program to assist with the Design, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning.

In this role, you will be responsible for the regulatory and advanced controls for a section of the refinery. This person will provide recommendations for improving refinery operations based on technical information and raw process data.

This is an excellent opportunity to build upon your technical expertise and experience to:

• Develop and implement process control schemes
• Assist project engineers in the development of control schemes for new projects
• Assist operations in troubleshooting controls issues
• Design and configure Distributed Control System (DCS) Regulatory and Supervisory Controls
• Maintain existing Advanced (Multivariable) Process Controls
• Identify opportunities for Advanced (Multivariable) Process Controls in selective applications providing good business returns
• Design and implement Advanced (Multivariable) Process Controls
• Develop and modify Operator Console Graphics
• Tune loops
• Assist with alarm management
• Project management
• Troubleshoot and maintain Distributed Control System (DCS) hardware and software
• Participate in or lead Process Safety Management (PSM) meetings (Hazops, Management of Change (MOC), Incident Investigations, etc.)
• Business travel is required up to 10% of the time.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Our ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering
• 3-5+ years Distributed Control System (DCS) controls experience (Honeywell preferred)
• 3+ Refinery or petrochemical experience
• Process controls design and implementation
• Loop Tuning
• DCS software and hardware troubleshooting skills
• Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills to work with operators, engineers, and supervisors
