The Company:
Our client a UK based refining and marketing company, have interests in a number of facilities in the United Kingdom, employing around 1000 people throughout the UK and over 33000 worldwide. They have had their presence on Teesside for over 30 years, processing and storing crude oil ready for shipment along with being an established supplier of bulk fuels, including LPG, to the commercial, aviation and marine industries.

The Role:
Purpose of Job:

To provide active support to the Process Safety (and possibly Process/Chemical Engineering) Groups in helping to manage the Major Accident Hazard Potential.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Priorities:

• Taking cognisance of Regulatory, Corporate, Business Unit and Site Management standards/guidance on Process Safety; the Process Safety Engineer will deliver those initiatives identified as having MAH risk reduction potential.

• And will therefore take an active role in ensuring that activities reducing Major Accident Hazard (MAH) at Teesside are given the right level of priority and budget allocation.

• Influence the organisation to realise the importance of good Process Safety Management.

• Ensure that the COMAH Safety Report resubmission is produced to the satisfaction of the HSE and that it serves as a key reference document for the site.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
BEng Chemical Engineering
Proven track record of working within a production environment on a Top Tier COMAH Site
Motivated, tenacious and a team player
Chemical/Process Engineering background, but experience of working with ‘Process Safety related’ projects/initiatives (for example, COMAH Safety Reports, Consequence Modelling, QRA, Fire Protection Studies, Risk Assessments - including HAZOP, LOPA, SIL Determination), as well as detailed engineering design).
Software Knowldege - AspenTech, MS Office Suite, (knowledge of PHAST would be useful).

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Chartered Chemical Engineer
Experience of working with Oil and Gas, Project Management experience
