The Company:
Our client is a global group of energy and petrochemicals companies with around 93,000 employees in more than 90 countries and territories. Their innovative approach ensures they are ready to help tackle the challenges of the new energy future.

The Role:
The Pernis refinery has initiated a portfolio of several growth projects, with a combined value of up to $300 million. The projects are:
- Installation of a Benzene/heart cut splitter
- Two projects to expand the capacity of and increase the product quality of refineries Polyol production.
- Debottlenecking of the existing hydrocracker

Each of the above Projects are schedule driven and are executed within the existing infrastructure of Pernis. The Pernis organization has no capacity to execute this work, and it is to the Project Team to ensure interfaces with this organization are established and maintained to ensure a successful conclusion of the Project.

The Process Engineer reports to the Lead Process Engineer and is responsible for supervision of and provision of technical support to the process engineers of the Engineering Contractor and ensuring that the technical content and integrity of the BDP, and associated deliverables of the project comply with the requirements of the Company, as generally described in the Basis of Design and the Select Phase Contract.

The key challenges of the role are:
- Ensuring integrity of tie ins to and expansion of existing brown field facilities
- Support the project engineer to deliver challenging schedule targets
- Provide fit for purpose and cost effective technical solutions
- Ensuring good alignment with refinery process engineering department.
- Managing the risk of number of novel technical solutions

Roles and Responsibilities

The specific responsibilities of the Process Engineer are as follows:
1. Through the application of team working principles and encouraging a co-operative attitude establish and maintain a close working relationship with the process engineers of the
Engineering Contractor, exercising the appropriate degree of control/influence such that the responsibilities under the contract are maintained.
2. For making the appropriate use of the expertise of Shell Delivery Groups, its affiliates and SGSI specialist engineers through the appropriate Service Agreements to ensure that the
project quality and technical integrity requirements are met.
3. Provision of technical guidance to the Engineering Contractor in respect of the integration of the individual process units with the utilities and infrastructure.
4. To ensure that the work of the Engineering Contractor process engineers is implemented giving full consideration to applicable standards and practices relating to safety,
environment, operability, efficiency and maintainability.
5. Participating in a structured selective review process within the BDP production work process of the Engineering Contractor such that critical elements of the project process
designs are addressed.
6. Participating with the Engineering Contractor in desktop safety and IPF reviews.
7. Providing direction and guidance to the Engineering Contractor in developing the preliminary commissioning plans as part of the “Flawless Start Up” initiative.
8. Participating with the Engineering Contractor in the Value Engineering and Process Simplification Studies.
9. Providing technical guidance to the Engineering Contractor in the development of all the H&SE related deliverables.
10 To ensure that the Project Manager is kept fully informed of progress of the work, potential problem areas and their solution and highlighting significant deviations from plans and
providing proposals for remedial actions.
11.Provision of process engineering advice to the project engineers and discipline engineers of the project team.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
The following qualifications are required:
- Minimum bachelors degree in chemical engineering or equivalent
- Minimum two to five years experience as a process engineer
- Minimum two years experience in the petrochemical industry
- Prior experience in refinery operations or operations is preferred
- Track record as a good team worker
- Demonstrate courage to raise technical issues and demonstrate a good balance between discipline and business needs.
