The Role:
Process Engineer (LNG)

The Process Engineer will:

• Provide specialist technical support for the process engineering work in the PR LNG development.
• Provide process engineering design input to the project during the Select, Define and Execute stages
Act as the owner’s technical representative in the area of Process engineering for Pre-FEED and FEED studies carried out by third party engineering contractors.
• Ensure facilities are designed to meet the company and the project technical specifications and are safe and operable.


• Develops process simulations for complex units, updates and modifies process simulation models.
• Initiates and optimizes cost effective process and system designs.
• Develops and performs process studies to support the selection among design alternatives, includes economics and financial criteria in decision.
• Develops cost estimates to perform economic evaluation of process alternatives.
• Interprets and verifies industry standards, guidelines and codes for project deliverables.
• Prepares technical reports related to specific design issues.
• Provides process engineering technical guidance and assurance for capital projects.
• Reviews and approves process engineering deliverables from the Engineering Contractor.
• Contributes to development of Design documents including Statement of Requirements, Basis of Design, Scope of Work and Deliverables.
• Works with the Contractor during specification, tender, selection, purchase, installation & commissioning of process equipment to provide technical integrity assurance.
• Serves as a key contributor during HAZID, HAZOP, QRA studies.
• Provides facility start-up assistance as required.
• Proactively works on best practices, engineering guidelines and internal procedures.
• Performs process improvement studies, performance optimization, incident investigations, economic evaluations, technical audits and safety studies.
• Provides support during construction to ensure site technical queries, non-conformances, concession requests are properly resolved.
• Evaluates requests for deviations or exemptions to the established specifications andstandards.
• Provides leadership in addressing process design issues with considerations of cost, schedule, and quality.
• Maintains a working knowledge of all relevant codes, standards, and regulations that pertain to process engineering.
• Manages the Process engineering element of contractor performance on conceptual studies, Pre FEED, FEED and detailed design work to assure it meets the company’s technical, financial, safety and environmental objectives.
• Performs economic evaluations of equipment alternatives with particular emphasis on availability and reliability projections and life cycle costs (Total Cost of Ownership: TCO).
• Participates in PEER assists, PEER Reviews and Technical Assurance reviews to add value and ensure compliance with the company Assurance Framework and approvals procedures.
• Provides input to the identification and mitigation of technical risks.
• Assists the operations and maintenance Asset teams in establishing spare parts requirements and initial maintenance intervals for Process equipment.
• Transfers Process technical knowledge to plant operations and engineering support staff.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

• Verifiable performance and delivery in a number of process engineering activities.
• Technical professional with proven experience in a wide range of international oil and gas project environments including commissioning and startup.
• Knowledge and experience of LNG projects and gas processing technologies is preferred.
• Effective computer skills; Microsoft Office software, and discipline specific software applications: HYSYS, Aspen Plus, Aspen Process Economic Analyzer or Aspen In-Plant Cost Estimator
• Skilled in the application of relevant major design codes and standards (API, NFPA, etc)
• Knowledge of or capability to develop expertise in the design of process equipment.
• Experience in a client/operator environment on projects in the Select, Define and Execute stages.
• The project team is currently based in Houston, Texas. Travel to Canada and other international travel may be required for meetings with partners, contractors and external bodies.
