The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Process, Methods and Tools Engineer (Systems / Software Development)

This role is for an experienced and highly motivated engineer with responsibility for the design, development and delivery of the process, methods and tools that are used to develop control systems and software, with particular emphasis on the systems engineering process to support future Advanced Driver Assistance (ADAS) and Chassis Electronics features.

Team activities include:Definition of systems engineering process used for ADAS and CE feature development, along with supporting methods and associated documentation, and support for roll-out of these across the department. Lead process definition and migration to new ALM tool chain for software development including requirements management, change and issue management, and software configuration management, based around the IBM Rational suite Development and support of the in-house embedded software development process. This includes enhancements, maintenance and updates of methods and scripts / tools, and also proof of concept studies and roll out of new tools such as calibration management, architecture, build, and software quality tools. Technical authorship of improved process documentation and associated training materials.

The team covers a range of disciplines and as such we would be interested to hear from candidates with experience in one of more of the following areas:
Systems Engineering o Process and methods definition (e.g. INCOSE / ISO15288, ASPICE). Experience in SysML would also be beneficial (IBM Rhapsody preferred). ALM tools and associated workflow design, configuration and deployment. This should including design, documentation and implementation of supporting processes such as requirements management, change and issue management, SCM. Experience with IBM Rational Suite preferred (DOORS, RTC, RQM) though strong candidates with experience of other similar tools will also be considered. Software Engineering Process, Methods and Tools development and support. Preferably using a model based tool chain (Mathworks / dSpace) for embedded applications. Useful experience could also include - AutoSAR, calibration management tools, continuous integration, test management, software management techniques such as Waterfall / Agile, ASPICE, quality tools (QAC and Polyspace), ISO26262. Technical authorship of supporting documentation relating to any of the above, including leading training activities and supporting deployment to new users.

1. Thorough understanding of system engineering principals, the V-development lifecycle, preferably including standards (e.g. INCOSE / ISO15288, ASPICE)
2. Requirement and change management (ALM) and associated processes, methods, and tools (IBM Rational DOORS / RTC Preferred)
3. Technical authorship of process and method documentation relating to systems engineering and / or ALM tools

Primarily located at Gaydon. Occasional travel to other sites may be required including overseas and test trips. Safety footwear will be required if supporting workshop / manufacturing activities.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
The following skills and experiences are also required for all roles: Experience of software or electrical system development and delivery through all stages of the development `V cycle, including understanding of system and software engineering principals. Strong organisational, project management and communication skills essential. Knowledge of MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project). Degree in Software, Computer Science, Electronics, Automotive / Aerospace engineering or similar subject, or equivalent industry experience.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
The following skills and experiences are also advantageous: Prior experience in an engineering environment preferred (e.g. automotive, aerospace), though strong candidates with relevant experience from IT or other industries will also be considered. Experience working with or managing offshore software development teams and / or 3rd party suppliers.

Experience of quality and robustness tools (FMEA, FTA, P-Diagrams, Noise Factor Analysis etc.) Understanding of safety critical systems including related standards such as ISO26262 / IEC61508 or similar - Full UK driving license preferred.
