The Role:
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
• Lead the process safety, loss prevention & HES risk management activities and deliverables for the project.
• Develop programs to reduce the risk of incidents resulting in catastrophic consequences to people, environment, assets or Company reputation by creating a step change in the overall management of process safety.
• Provide leadership, direction and oversight in establishing a global, systematic approach to process safety which crosses functional lines and establishes key accountabilities.
• Develop a roadmap for the development and implementation of project safety (HES) cases.
• Develop a suite of key performance metrics (both leading and lagging) to measure the overall effective management of process safety in accordance with company standards.
• Demonstrate technical and engineering knowledge in the interpretation of company and Industry Standards and Specifications, such as, storage tank protection, spacing and layout requirements, fireproofing, relief and flare including isolation and depressurizing, survival systems, escape, evacuation and rescue, fire and gas detection and alarm systems, fire extinguishers and firefighting, fire water systems, foam systems, CO2 systems, and water mist, passive fire protection, drains and sampling, site containment and drainage, Shutdown systems, HIPPS systems, SIL assignment, blast studies, consequence analysis, vapor dispersion analysis, etc.
• Review and approve design work performed by engineering contractors. Check and approve the following key deliverables, applicable as per the project scope - safety philosophy, safety design document, fire water demand calculations, fire water hydraulic calculations, safety equipment datasheets and specifications, dispersion calculations, etc.
• Work closely with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering to provide direction and guidance regarding risk assessment methodologies, equipment design, critical equipment maintenance, operational readiness and auditing of safety critical barriers on a continual basis.
• Lead or coordinate process safety study workshop reviews. Provide solutions which will involve preparing quantitative and qualitative risk assessments such as HAZOP, HAZID, What If, PHA, SOA, and consequences and physical effects modelling.
• Lead or coordinate HES risk assessments as part of the project MOC process.
• Identify technical problems & issues, develop alternatives, and propose & implement solutions for long-term safety and reliability.
• Make technical decisions, ensuring coordination, quality and conformance with Project contract requirements. Answer technical inquiries, improve design tools, & develop design procedures.
• Prepare work scopes, drawings/sketches, technical specs, datasheets, MTO’s, cost estimates, schedules, construction work packages, and other required documentation.
• Provide technical support for the ITB process - development of job specifications, request for service, technical / commercial evaluation and award.
• Carry out studies to improve facility safety, reliability, and economics; engage with others in economic comparison of alternatives and prioritization of jobs.
• Document & manage information related to process safety, loss prevention and HES risk management activities for the project including the HES Risk Management Register.
• Travel to engineering sites, construction sites, vendor / contractor sites to provide technical input as and when required. Make records of visits with clear and concise reporting.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• 15+ years of experience in the Oil and Gas Industry in the area of Process Safety / Loss prevention, out which he should have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as Senior Safety engineer in the area of design safety. Experience with Compliant Towers and/or Brownfield topsides projects preferable.
• Experience in risk management and coordination of Safety / HES studies like quantitative risk assessments, HAZID, Fire and explosion analysis, dropped object studies etc. Ability to facilitate HAZID, What If, PHA, SOA, HAZOP & SIL preferable.
• Familiarity with the company Risk Management Process.
• Good understanding of offshore facility operating practices. Experience with implementation of IIF work culture.
• Familiar with principles of basic instrumentation devices including pressure, flow, temperature, level, shutdown valves, control valves and pneumatic accessories.
• Understands fundamental control and safety systems specifications and industry standards, including API 14C.
