The Role:
Develop projects and initiatives to define, implementing, and support Process Safety. The PS group is new and PS fluency is developing; during this phase there will be many special projects/assignments to develop initiatives, tools, and systems for future long term use. This is an opportunity to shape the future of Process Safety efforts.

Liaise with and support OE, PS Standard Advisors, PHA Leads, and MOC Champion

Identify common LOC PS incident themes and gap trends by reviewing similar LOC incidents in aggregate; collaborate with OE Advisors and other SMEs to develop recommendations to eliminate repeat incidents and improve performance.

Participate in significant (not all) PS related incident investigations involving loss of containment – these will be assigned by the PS Coordinator.

Develop Process Safety lessons learned, present Process Safety OE moments to technical, Operational and Maintenance workforce, and train technical and other personnel in effective and meaningful manner.

Conduct quality reviews of PHAs and MOCs

Lead multi-department development of new PS metrics. Collaborate with other SMEs and build team as necessary.

Coach the PS Analyst in monthly/quarterly data collection and analysis.

Manage the Process Safety Resource Loaded Work Plan – add new projects/initiatives and track progress; the PS analyst will be assisting with this effort

Consult on PS website and Dashboard development

Support Competency Development Group Process Safety related training development with advice and technical recommendations for content

Participate in the Upstream Process Safety Network with other Upstream Business Units. Present initiatives and updates.

Facilitate the Process Safety Governance Board meetings

Support implementation and continuous improvement of the OEMS (Operational Excellence Management System) elements related to PS

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Chemical or Mechanical Engineering Degree

Four or more years experience in Process Engineering or Design Engineering in industry

Two or more years experience in Process Safety Engineering

Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, strong Excel skills, ability to develop spreadsheets and develop pivot tables with graphs, tables, and use advanced Functions

Strong understanding of design and operation of a chemical processing plant (sour gas experience preferred)

Fluent in, has practical experience using, and is able to contribute to development of Safe Work Practices, Safety Instructions, Operating/Maintenance procedures, and Engineering Codes and Standards as applied to process plants
