The Role:
Client is seeking a Process Safety Risk Engineer with an emphasis on risk studies including High Pressure Protection Systems, Wellhead Safety Systems, and related piping, actuators, valves, safety logic solvers and instrumentation.

The role will be working in the Process & Control Systems Department/Process Automation Systems Division. The Process Automation Systems Division offers engineering expertise in Custody Management, Process Instrumentation, High Integrity Protective Systems (HIPS), Plant Networks and Computing, and Process Automation Systems. This position will be based in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.

Responsibilities to include the following:
• Review and write corporate engineering procedures and standards to define risk reduction requirements associated with HIPS installed within upstream and downstream applications.
• Provide high level technical leadership on multidisciplinary teams, including third-party safety consultants to conduct Quantitative Risk Assessment studies.
• Perform technical studies and communicate the results of the risk assessment studies to technical and management personnel.
• Serve as the corporate authority on new and emerging technologies in your area of expertise and pioneer the company's use of these technologies.
• Review mega project design and proposals.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Process Safety) or other related degree from an accredited university.

A minimum of 10 years experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry, with a leadership role in conducting risk assessment studies of safety instrumented systems (ESD and HIPS). This will include Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) studies, Dispersion Simulation, Fault Tree Analysis for the evaluation of HIPS and knowledge of accepted industry safety risk criteria.

Knowledge of failure rates for field instruments; safety logic solvers; integrated valves and actuators, along with peripheral safety related instrumentation (local control panels, solenoid valves, hydraulic pilots, cables, enclosures, trays and tubing); and the implications of functional testing, common cause failure contribution calculations, etc.

Specific experience is required with Safety Instrumented System applications.
