The Company:
Our Client is a Leading Global Operator in the Oil and Gas Industry. This role will be based out of our client's project offices in London (West) with travel out to Iraq required.

The Role:
As Process Safety Technical Authority within the Safety & Operational Risk (S&OR) Organization, the position sets the codes & standards to be followed within the Region and managing deviations against those codes and standards. The position is responsible for assessing the level of compliance with external regulations, codes, standards and specifications as well as with the internal practices and procedures. The position is responsible for gauging the competency of discipline engineers within the Region, including Technical Authorities embedded within Operations and Major Projects. The position acts as the expert within their discipline (Materials & Corrosion) for the Iraq Region and is the primary source of technical advice to the Regional EA. The position will interface as required with the Segment Engineering Technical Authorities, and Chief Engineers and is accountable for the Technical Practices within their discipline.

The position is based in West London, UK. The work involves travel to operating sites in Iraq on an as-needed basis, estimated to be circa 1 week in 6. There will also be possible travel to engineering contractors, suppliers and Partners in the Middle East, China and elsewhere.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Essential Education and Professional Qualifications
• Educated to degree level or similar in Materials & Corrosion Engineering or related subject
• Chartered Engineer or registered professional engineer
• Minimum of 15 years technical experience with a strong track record of delivery. This experience is to include at least 10 years in E&P / upstream, including:
o Several years of experience as a senior discipline engineer or Technical Authority within Operations.
o Experience as a senior discipline engineer on a major project. Alternatively, design experience gained on numerous small projects will be considered.

• Practical experience of oil & gas plant commissioning and operation
• Knowledge and experience of the engineering contractor and supplier communities, including contract management
• Excellent organisational, planning, written and oral communication skills
• Written and oral fluency in English
• Good interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to work in

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Preferable
• Experience working within joint ventures
• Experience of contract management including the tendering, award and performance management of contracts.
• Experience within a mature, onshore oil production environment.
• Experience in leading, coaching and developing discipline engineers.
• Experience as an Operations representative on a major project
