The Company:
My client is recognised around the globe for its dedication to manufacturing specialist materials for a variety of industry sectors, this global business has been built upon delivering technical excellence and high standards of customer service to niche markets around the globe

The Role:
You will be responsible for staffing, materials, machinery, equipment and spend and will be seen within the company as the technical specialist across the manufacturing process, providing technical support to internal and external contacts

• You will become the Company’s technical specialist in the metallurgy, manufacturing and application of alloys
• Conduct process improvement trials to establish the best parameters for reliably manufacturing our current range of alloys to specification, first time, every time
• Analyse manufacturing data and ascertain process performance and best practice
• Undertake raw material investigations
• Develop QC system. Take responsibility for metallurgy laboratory and test samples of alloy and analyse the results
• Make recommendations for further study or trials
• Specify alterations to the manufacturing process and assist with commissioning of any new equipment
• Document details of investigations, write technical reports and file appropriately

Additional duties

• Troubleshoot process issues
• Participate in the company innovation process and perform/lead innovation activities within area of expertise
• Provide materials science support to manufacturing and applications

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Either Metallurgy or Material Science degree with circa two years experience in a manufacturing environment
• Or HNC/HND or equivalent in Metallurgy or Materials Science with circa five years experience in a manufacturing environment

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Member of relevant professional body (or working towards same)
• Experience of production trials or working on process improvement projects and alloy testing
