The Company:
Our client are a leading integrated energy company. A major player in exploration and production, power generation & trading they use their strong brands and distinctive assets and capabilities to achieve success in their chosen markets.

The Role:
Our client have two onshore wind farms in Scotland plus two offshore wind farms currently the world’s largest. We are looking to recruit Procurement & Contracts Engineer with the following experience:-

Overview:
• Base Salary up to £60k plus comprehensive benefits package
• Accountable for providing commercial insight to major strategically critical capital investment projects and exciting change plans in a growth business. Including sourcing strategy
• Tendering and Managing multimillion pound contracts covering all aspects of wind farm development. Which includes -
o On Shore and off shore construction
o Capital Plant
o Services and Consultancy
• Agree investment strategy with director level stakeholders
• Drive continuous improvement best practice to deliver benefit
• Manage the strategic supplier relationship through the full lifecycle from market investigation, procurement, contract award and negotiation through to contract closure/O&M.
• Lead negotiations for commercial and contractual terms
• Contract management best practice
• Ensure commercial/project controls governance is followed
• Co-ordinate all key departments to capture requirements

Procurement & Contract Engineer – The Role:

• Procurement: procure a range of goods and services across one or more projects ensuring optimum value for money within defined service and quality criteria.
o Experience of construction/large capital investment and LOGIC/FIDIC contracts beneficial
• Seek and evaluate competitive tenders and proposals for the supply of goods and services negotiating with suppliers on all commercial and contractual matters and applying judgement based on thorough analysis as to what constitutes an acceptable level of contractual risk

• Contracts: draft, negotiate and obtain agreement to commercial contracts ensuring that operational and commercial risks to business are minimised.
• Identify key dependencies between suppliers and/or contracts, and ensure that necessary contractual and operational management arrangements are in place
• Apply Best practice contract management principles and lessons learnt
• Plan and take the lead role in discussions with key suppliers for a range of commercial issues in the roll-out of Programme, working as part of a multi-discipline team.
• Ensure suppliers meet their commercial obligations and provide contract management guidance / advice / support staff and management as required
• Sourcing Strategy: Undertake market and spend assessment to generate innovative opportunities.
• Support in the development of framework arrangements to allow the creation of synergies and co-ordinated contracting strategy across multiple projects.
• Develop “best in class” long term partnerships with suppliers and contractors
• Know your Marketplace: maintain up-to-date knowledge of defined market sectors, suppliers, services and products in order to effectively contribute to manage the cost per MW of generation. This will include undertaking benchmarking of total acquisition costs both internally and externally.
• Supplier Management: manage supplier relationships, coordinating multiple stakeholder interfaces/touch points across the business to ensure a consistent approach and identify and implement supplier improvement actions and operate supplier appraisal processes. Resolve contractual and supplier disputes where they occur, protecting the interests of the business at all times.
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of suppliers, products and contractual arrangements with computerised procurement systems.

Procurement & Contracts Engineer – The Person:
• Degree, MBA, MRICS or CIPS qualified
• Innovative, creative and collaborative.
• Be able to turn analysis into insight.
• Extensive experience of business to business negotiation on contractual terms and conditions + commercial deal is essential
• Ability to project manage initiatives tracking and ensuring delivery against key milestones
• Tough but fair attitude with excellent communication skills
• Great drive, energy and enthusiasm. Sense of urgency.
• Must identify risks and manage appropriately
• Must have lots of drive and finish what has been started
• Desire to succeed and result orientated
• Ability to present complex ideas/concepts and take a consultative approach with stakeholders
