Our Client is a forward thinking and dynamic business pioneering the development of clean technology. Capabilities include the design and manufacture of Hybrid Power Generators for industry, Off-Grid Power Systems for emergency response and development projects, renewable energy storage solutions that reduce grid dependence, and turnkey solutions for temporary power applications.

The Role:
Position
To support this growth strategy, we are seeking a talented individual for the position of Production and Design Director (P&DD). The P&DD will primarily be responsible for ensuring that the production and technical infrastructure can support current and future demands will support strategic objectives. The individual should possess strong leadership and management skills; an understanding and demonstrable experience of what it takes to scale the company; a robust commercial and technical background; and the ability to define, implement and embed systems and processes across the production and technical functions in order to sustain and support our strong sales trajectory.

Responsibilities
• Manage all company technical operations, both at a day-to-day and strategic level, including design, manufacturing and supply chain;
• Work closely with the Sales and Financial Directors to develop and implement a detailed operational plan;
• Review existing sourcing, manufacturing, assembly and design processes, and prioritise a change management programme as appropriate;
• Adopt, as appropriate, six sigma and lean principles to improve production capabilities;
• Champion and ensure a culture of continuous improvement, environmental awareness and carbon reduction;
• Direct market search and analysis for relevant technological innovation;
• Determine critical success factors for production and design and provide monthly reporting on key metrics
• Ensure appropriate resource allocation for current and future business and customer requirements; building contingency plans for likely scenarios and external variables;
• Build out a strong roster of new product development (both hardware and software), supported by a robust project planning capability;
• Contribute to the wider leadership, strategy development and culture of the business.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Qualifications
• Advanced engineering degree
• 8+ years of experience managing production and design for mid-size companies;
• Hands-on, highly organised and directed leader with board level decision making track record;
• Ability to balance competing demands of operational efficiency with nimbleness and innovation;
• Strong commercial acumen, and ability to engage with customers at a senior and operational level;
• Possess strong financial and analytic skills;
• Experience in building operational strategy in a competitive and fast growing business environment;
• Excellent communication and management skills.
