Is a leading Automotive manufacturer with a reputation for outstanding quality the world over. With demand increasing and an upturn in production, there is a need to bring further skills into the business to deliver on current and future projects.

The Role:
Main Purpose of the Role
- This is a management role within Production Quality responsible for the operational management of a Check-point zone with responsibility for the inspection and quality release of vehicles from the process.
- Responsible for the management of all colleagues within the zone, including leading development and training of the inspection team, to ensure optimal enhancement and distribution of skills within the zone
- Actively encourage a culture of continuous improvement and customer focus

Scope of the Role
Management of Production Quality processes and vehicle flow

- Manage process in line with daily production targets ensuring effective detection of customer relevant faults at check-points
- Work closely with production counterparts to ensure process flow is optimised to meet Right First Time (RFT) and Direct Run (DLQ) targets.
- Ensure effective working with production to overcome process and product concerns, upholding quality and volume targets
- During shift work (outside standard day shift pattern) assume autonomy for release of cars from internal check-points and CP8
- Work closely with production to make timely decisions on vehicle condition entering and leaving checkpoints.
- Liaise with GQ/C to ensure effective maintenance, running and concern management of support systems such as FLGS, EQS, UPS.

Management of pre and post shift activities and standard meeting structure

- Ensure a structured and effective method of managing pre and post shift activities , with detailed preparation of information to be delivered including status and outstanding actions
- Ensure Team Leaders are conducting team based activities to the required standard
- Ensure effective transfer of information and actions required across shifts.

Monitor process performance and drive process improvement

- Has key performance indicators in place to measure and monitor operational targets for Quality. Cost and volume
- Manages the zone’s financial performance for consumables and overtime to contribute to departmental targets
- Authorises and forecasts overtime required to meet performance requirements of the zone
- Manage and proactively engage the team in continuous improvement activities aligned to departmental targets. Share and deploy outcomes with other zones in the team.
- Regular liaison with team leaders, senior managers, production and support departments to track progress and drive conclusion to open points.

People management of colleagues in line with company policies and procedures

- Proactively manages performance of the team in line with company policies and procedures
- Maintains up to date colleague records in line with HR requirements
- Responsible for the engagement of all colleagues in the team and drive effective Pulse improvement plans.
- Ensure training and development of all colleagues in the team, and that records of training are held, plus maintenance of versatility charts and skills matrices.
- Responsible for generation and maintenance of process documentation.
- Responsible for ensuring effective performance development reviews (PDR) are carried out
- Gathering and deployment of the required quality standards within the zone

Responsible for creating and monitoring a safe working environment

- Ensure colleagues follow the company standards and procedures for health and safety
- Lead safety reviews and elevate issues where required
- Responsible for prevention activities including near misses, Safety awareness points and risk assessments
- Report all accidents in a timely manner and use 5 why investigation together with Health and safety representative

Qualifications & Experience

- Educated to degree level or equivalent demonstrable experience in a similar role within the Production Quality or Manufacturing environment
- Demonstrable experience of managing a team within a manufacturing or production environment
- Demonstrable ability of developing and maintaining cross functional relationships to deliver business and departmental objectives
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills at all levels in the business – internally and externally
- Strong people management skills
- Ability to coach, lead and engage a working team
- Demonstrable experience of the application of continuous improvement techniques.
- Demonstrable effective presentation skills
- Demonstrable application of practical problem solving techniques and tools
- Knowledge of the Product Emergence Process (PEP) and key gateway deliverables
- Knowledge of vehicle assembly processes
