The Company:
Our client are experts in the growing industry of on-line partial discharge (OLPD) condition monitoring of in-service, medium voltage (MV) and high voltage (HV) networks. They offer a complete range of OLPD diagnostic test and monitoring equipment to provide an 'early warning' of 'incipient' high voltage insulation faults.

The Role:
An exciting opportunity, based in the head office in Manchester, UK for an experienced Products Manager to manage and improve the product range from increasing the profitability of existing products to developing new products for the company.

The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Management team and will be responsible for a team of Project Engineering Managers. The Products Manager will have defined ownership across the various product categories over the full product lifecycle, including; assimilating information and requirements from the sales and marketing team, managing new product developments and maintenance of the existing product range.
Role and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Managing the new product development and the portfolio of existing products.
• Gathering requirements for both new and existing products from the sales and marketing team, customers and stakeholders.
• Managing a team of Project Engineering Managers to critical paths and deliverables.
• Completing product developments on time and to set budgets.
• Quality Assurance – Ensuring that all Projects are run to ISO 9001 procedures.
• Managing the entire lifecycle of products from development to supply.
• Project Planning - Balancing the development pipeline and resource needs.
• Process Control.
• Managing relationships; Developing and identifying the skills and competencies for the team. In addition to managing the Project Engineering Managers the role requires the ideal candidate to be a strong communicator as a substantial part of the role will be to liaise with multi-discipline teams including; software, hardware, sales, production and service engineers in the field test team.
• Driving a solution set across development teams (primarily Development/Engineering, and Marketing) through market requirements, product contract, and positioning.
• Post production - Act as first line contact for in-field, customer and production requirements post product launch.
• Staff management and development; undertaking personnel reviews, identifying training requirements, and setting and monitoring KPI’s.

All staff are expected to work to ISO9001 and Health & Safety procedures at all times

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• 5 year + Product management experience
• Proven record or delivering product developments on time and to budgets
• Experience of working to ISO9001
• Management leadership experience - Ability to lead a team, with very high and mixed skill sets, and competing priorities, in a coherent and motivating way
• Experienced in using Project Development Tools, and knowledge of principles that deliver Best Practice and Performance of embedded designs
• Strong knowledge of Product Development Process related to PC based software and hardware in protection and control area
• Engineering industry experience
• Excellent written / oral communication skills & interpersonal skills
• Prior experience working within high tech company that delivered cutting-edge technology products
• Sound understanding of customer needs and expectations including product usability

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronic Engineering, Qualifications in or Computer Science, S/w engineering will be advantageous.
• Familiarity with one or more of the following protocols is also required: IEC61850, IEC 103, Modbus, DNP3.0, TCP/IP, Ethernet
• Knowledge of electric power industry operating practices and in particular proactive relays applications and their networking within substation environment
• Condition monitoring asset management experience
