The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
The department. The Programmes Purchasing team is part of the Purchasing function. Its role is to manage the interface between Purchasing and Programme Managements Cross functional team to ensure supplier sourcing, cost, quality and timing are all delivered against plan. Programmes Purchasing offers a unique and highly challenging experience with business-wide exposure and development, where the key to success is the ability to manage our internal customer's expectations, and deliver against their requirement using resources assigned against multiple and often conflicting priorities. The role: The Programmes Purchasing team manages and leads the interface between the wider Purchase department and a range of functional areas such as Product Development, New Model Programme, Finance, Materials Planning, Manufacturing Plants, Marketing and Quality. There are two main Purchase Programme roles: Forward Model Programme Buyer: Key responsibilities include working closely with the wider Purchase department to ensure sourcing cost, quality and timing are all delivered against plan, including capacity verification. Launch/Current Car Programme Buyer: Key responsibilities include supporting early prototype builds and launch activities from a Purchase perspective as well as on-going risk management of cost, quality and timing. Buyer will work closely with Plant launch & Quality teams alongside the wider Purchase community, liaising with the supply base to deliver PSW requirements. Position Description continued Key Responsibilities Be the "go to" purchasing contact for the programme. Represent the Purchasing function at weekly programme meetings e.g .Forward Model Programme steering meetings or launch reviews, capacity reviews. Provide guidance and support to the wider Purchase department. Develop strong cross functional relationships through close liaison with Supplier Technical Assistance (STA), Finance, Marketing, Material Planning & Logistics (MP&L) through the sourcing management process. Risk management: Identify potential roadblocks and devise effective strategies to overcome these, through cooperation and influence at all levels. Programme Status reporting: Creation, management and reporting/presenting key programme metrics. Forward Model role only: Create and drive the Sourcing Plan (ESWP) for new vehicle programmes, working with the wider Purchase teams, Product Development and Cost Engineering to achieve sourcing on time, to cost & quality requirements. Includes responsibility for capacity verification on carryover sourcing. Launch role only: Ensure the supply chain delivers against the programme PCDS requirements (i.e. PSW @TT, recognition of risks and opportunities against programme status, supplier commodity timing plans, supplier build issues & capacity bottlenecks). Deployment of cost management process. Organizing & coordinating cost events (1-4) & final commercial status (FSR). Ensure the application, development and improvement of purchasing processes. Support the development of the departments Global Programmes strategy. Key stakeholder interface at a senior level.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Primary Skills Required: Ideally, you will be educated to degree level (or equivalent), and/or have a professional qualification in Manufacturing / Production Engineering / Cost Engineering / Purchasing Plus the following essential / desirable experience and characteristics: Essential Highly self-motivated, enthusiastic determined and able to work on their own initiative. Experience of managing complex projects with the ability to work to strict deadlines and to drive others to meet commitments. Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to communicate and influence a wide range of stakeholders at all levels in the business. Excellent business acumen, a drive for results. A passion to succeed, personal initiative and influencing skills to manage the programme sourcing activity and maintain a positive relationship with stakeholders.
