The Role:
We are currently seeking a Project Controls Lead with previous Oil and Gas industry experience (Upstream / Pipeline / Offshore Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) for a contract position to be based in Melbourne.

Managing and developing the Project Controls team, you will report directly to the Project Manager and ensure that the overall Project Control System provides valid, accurate and timely information. Providing overall project cost, schedule, estimating, progress measurement, and change management leadership and expertise, you will manage the interface between Project Controls the Contractor and the Project Management Team.

Specific responsibilities include:
• Support Project Management Team (PMT) and Cost Stewards with ongoing project cost and schedule analysis, reporting, forecasting, budgeting and Change Management.
• Develop and document Control Estimates, Schedules and Budgets (annual and multi-year), and ensure that these products reflect the approved project design/execution scope
• Analyse cost and schedule trends, develop and review cost and schedule forecasts
• Prepare and review monthly cost reports (budgets, forecasts, expenditures, commitments)
• Maintain ongoing cost vulnerability/cost reduction opportunities database
• Review Project Account’s monthly Stewardship Report for actual invoice bookings
• Develop monthly expenditure and commitment forecasts
• Monitor and report on cost and schedule implications of changes
• Participate in contract commercial bid evaluations (as required)
• Participate in developing Contract Price Budgets and Contract Control Schedules and Milestones
• Support preparation of funding estimates and budgets
• Interface with Project Accountant regarding funding, budgets and invoices
• Respond to ad hoc requests from PMT related to Controls/Reporting
• Monitor and appraise the performance of contractors in the areas of cost, progress and schedule control.
• Examine and evaluate the Contractors cost and schedule control organization, plans, performance and procedures
• Review and, where appropriate, endorse schedule, progress and cost baselines and forecast prepared by contractors
• Analyse cost, schedule and progress trends developed by contractor in conjunction with the Lead Planner
• Review and endorse progress measures reported by the contractor in conjunction with the Lead Planner
• Review cost and schedule bases of contractor's Change Proposals - review and endorse Change Orders - monitor, analyse and report contractor
• Assist site management in developing/reviewing cost and schedule corrective actions and recovery plans, and making sure needed actions/plans are implemented.
• Identify potential project change requests and provide information and data as required by the Project for change management.
• Ensure cost management system is implemented consistently with overall project guideline.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
You will have a thorough and extensive knowledge of project controls principles, theories, and concepts and experience in the use of project planning tools, e.g. Primavera (Primavera P3 Project Planner) and conversant with the use of Suretrack and MS Project. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are a necessity, as is your adaptability to changing priorities.
